Speak Out

An annual public-speaking competition, ‘Speak Out!’ runs in March, (usually coinciding with World Book Day) and involves all boys in Years 36. They demonstrate their performance skills in class and finalists are selected from each class. Presenting a range of topics from ‘storytelling’ and ‘reciting poetry from memory’ to performing excerpts from a Shakespeare play to presenting a biography Runners-up and finalists are chosen by a panel of three judges.

Music and Drama Mini Matinee

Another highlight is the Year 4 Music and Drama mini matinée in March, where the Y4 boys recite a selection of classic and contemporary poems from memory as well as performing a song.

Productions and Workshops

During the academic year, all boys have the opportunity to watch a production In addition, workshops are planned for the different year groups and provided by professional practitioners such as The Young Shakespeare Company, Guildford Shakespeare Company and the Freshwater Theatre Company.
