ISOMORPHIC DIAGRAM OF ACTIVITIES SURROUNDING THE TUBES, AND CONSEQUENT AMBIVALENCE BETWEN PRIVATE AND PUBLIC SPACE
TOYO ITO’S SENDAI MEDIATHEQUE SKIN/TUBE/PLATES building systems and activities. The present isothermic diagram on the right underlines the importance of the tubes as not only structural elements, but also as the centers of activities and programs.

limitation as a design parameter allows for precision and creativity. The programmatic detail is the transformation of static and determined program elements into integrated and dynamic space(s) that materially engage and chart the relationship between the body in space and its movement in time.
The following programmatic detail is a small-scale design investigation into the connection between material, program and physical and psychological space. This membrane, just like Ito’s tubes, serves as a structural element

ArchiKit is a structure dealing with the following activities -performing and learning- through the development of a new system bringing within its qualities external components from the classroom and the playground. Designed for use by four kids to six children, ages four to ten years- old, the ArchiKit is an architectural toy. It is divided into three sections, which undertake interaction with the structure is in itself a performance. The use of the structure enhance learning.
ARCHIKIT IN AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PLAYGROUND
Use of Medium sections for painting that allows one to avoid active soccer game in High Activity sections and rest of playground.
10:25 am 10am: Recess begins
First activities of the day involve the playground, the outside space surrounding the Archikit.
10:05 am
With increase of activities and density in the playground, a need for more space is required. programmatic use of structure and sections. First signs of isolation and private use of less active sections of structure.

Sliding plate and Expanding Membrane in High Activity Section
Expansion of High Activity Section and its existing program in the Medium Section. The joints present in these sections allow space and activity changes.
