BRIEF HISTORY OF THE
VISION CONFERENCE Founded in 1896 by Dr. Richard Henry Boyd, R.H. Boyd® is a leading Nashville-based institution that creates and distributes primarily Christian, historic, and educational resources and literature, produces commercial print projects, and hosts leadership training and community-oriented events and experiences. It is one of the oldest Black institutions in the country. The National Baptist Congress®, founded by Dr. Boyd in 1906, is a consortium of churches and organizations focused on Christian education and leadership by meeting the needs of today’s believers, which convenes an annual training conference. In 2020, these institutions combined efforts to host the Vision Conference™, a premier event providing a multitude of leadership resources. Conference offerings include strategy sessions, business advice/mentorship, author services, sermons, workshops, continuing education credits for seminary and secular employment requirements, and access to the Urban Leadership Program and Seminary Now® at Northern Seminary. Under the current leadership of Dr. LaDonna Boyd, fifth-generation president/CEO of the R.H. Boyd family of companies, the Vision Conference™ remains committed to educating, training, teaching, and amplifying God’s Word through excellence in Christian education resources and leadership training. This year’s offerings and events will highlight the importance of technology, innovative teaching methodologies, entrepreneurship, theology, and so much more. Additionally, our robust youth ministry offerings will continue to inspire the next generation of faith leaders and scholars.
