The Pumphouse was part of Calgary’s industrial waterfront developments. But in the process of city expansion, the space got abandoned and under-utilized. Purpose

In order to fully describe long-term change, the ASP depicts growth and venue diversification in both large and small scale (or fine grain) detail. Large scale, big picture growth is introduced at the District level, six unique divisions of the plan area that will grow or change in different manners. Fine grain comprehensive design of these Districts has been completed as well. General timeline estimates have been made for the major built form improvements contemplated for the site, which are also tied to the arrival of a new piped servicing network.

Improved Leisure Spaces The design focus was on creating leisure spaces around the lake that would offer improved visual and physical connections to the waterbody and its surroundings.

Elegant Gathering Hall The outdoor gathering hall is envisioned for conducting village festivals and events. The hall is designed to utilize the stepwell dome as a picturesque backdrop.

Physical Model This hand-made model made using PVC sheet, cardboard and paper gives a spacial relation to the proposed design. Pockets of gathering spots allow people to socialize at various times of the day - a characteristic of rural life.
