RESEARCH &
BRANDING I combined my love of both rabbits and design, to create a proposal for my own design business. Throughout the brief I had to come up with brand identity, brand positioning, develop my service offerings, state the responsibilities and show my design ethos and approach. The second phase of the brief was to set up a costing system as well as the terms of trade. I had to clearly note my business’s 12 month and 5 year vision. Throughout the brief I learnt how to compare appropriate theoretical management principles with advanced project management, client management and internal studio production management. I evaluated ethical standards in the design industry and learnt effective communication skills.

DESIGN &
PRINT I worked with Better Health Company to roll out a new brand for a teenage health program, Think, Eat and Move. With the brand built, it was my requirement to make collateral that would benefit the program. A height chart, label reader, magazine workbook, flyers and brochures were made. Each of these had a different audience. Whether it was to inform health professionals, government, parents or teenagers each item had to be carefully considered.

GUIDELINES &
LAYOUT Working at NEPA meant following strict brand guidelines. I was asked to design posters, organisational charts and graphics for the intranet. With people requesting different things, I had to prioritise my work and design to deadlines. Throughout each brief I had to plan my work and make edits to copy and layout where I needed to. Without a senior designer to rely on, I worked independently to create positive and effective outcomes.

BRANDING &
MERCHANDISE Camp Hill Bowls Club approached me in regards to a seasonal merchandise range. Through extensive research into the club and capturing the history, many key facts emerged. The design relied heavily on this research to make sure it had meaning. With the success of the merchandise, I have since been helping with their small designs needs. It has been an ongoing successful relationship.

BRANDING &
COLLATERAL The Crossfit Carve brand was created for a new gym opening. The client had an idea of what he was aiming to achieve while working with me. I wanted something that would stand out from the competitors while still remaining strong. It was critical that the brand would appeal to both men and women alike. It didn’t matter who walked through the doors, everyone was welcome always. It was about carving stronger bodies and mindsets. Handed to the client was a file library of logos and different collateral that he could use. Through client meetings along the way I was able to understand the importance of re-using different assets to create more collateral.

DESIGN &
PRINT The Queen Elizabeth Annual Report had to follow strict government branding guidelines. This meant using only black and white on the internal pages and no photos. Following these guidelines meant a very clean and corporate structure had to be set up. As the financials took up a majority of the report, it was important to set up the correct paragraph styles to make it a time efficient project.

DESIGN &
VIDEOGRAPHY As well as design briefs, I have a love for photography and videography. I find there is something very special in capturing beautiful moments in time that might otherwise be forgotten. Captured on the opposing page is an interview I did with the owner of Little Peach Co. I was able to capture of the beauty of letterpress and the passion he has. Recently flying a drone over New Zealand, I was able to capture some incredible shots that made for a special video. I believe that having this skill set, but especially passion, is an asset to a good designer.

DESIGN &
PRINT Shade was a new café opening and required some advertising material to be displayed and handed out. I created a few posters to be shown in the window while work was being done inside. A promotion was being run to get people through the doors. An A5 flyer was created for a free coffee.

PHOTOGRAPHY This seasonal menu design was done for Pacific Golf Club in Brisbane. The client had colours and fonts he wanted to use. I spent half a day in the kitchen to understand how it operated and took some photos of the food. These photos could then be used to build a library that would be useful for the business.

DESIGN &
BRANDING The brief was to reinvigorate the Wellington Point brand. This required a complete name and identity system overhaul. I utilised both primary and secondary research sources to give context, relevance and appropriateness. In the initial proposal I developed two identity systems, each supported by a style guide. After presenting both ideas, the board decided which branding style was most appropriate for the park. I then developed the identity further to create a highly finished and extensive brand expression book. This book was developed into a full range of identity materials including; promotional pieces, livery for staff, map, tone of voice and environmental signage.

CRAFT &
BRANDING I lovingly handmade all of these creatures and turned them into the TakeTwo brand. It celebrates the stories and memories behind the clothes that we once wore. I wanted to inspire and excite generations of sustainable humans that care deeply about the earth in which they live. This brief was all about this idea of value. Value once was about the idea of not just price, but quality. Today I think value is synonymous with the idea of a bargain. We are buying and disposing of clothes more than ever before. Something needs to be done to change the way we think about clothes. TakeTwo breathes new life into the clothes that would otherwise be discarded.
