Unit 3 Assignment 1 Types of Information


Qualitative • Qualitative information give in depth and in detail and greater insight into a subject. • Qualitative information is used to gain a better understanding of a subject using questions. • Qualitative information is obtained using interviews, questionnaires, feedback form and surveys. • An example of qualitative data could be about someone the data could include gender or their race and in the case of Easyfix could be the age that they would need to know to sell life insurance.


Quantitative • Quantitative refers to a type of information given in quantities. • Quantitative information is based on facts and statistics. • Quantitative information gives out key information not the whole answer given. • An example of quantitative data a 10 year-old girl is twice as old as a 5 year-old girl


Primary • For a primary research to take place you have to pay someone to sit there and observe, create and give out surveys, have experiment or run a focus group. • A primary research is carried out to answer questions not suitable for secondary research. • To gain good information out of a primary research it needs to fit of purpose


Secondary • Secondary research is research that has already been carried out by someone else for example the national statistics, newspapers and news reports.
