introduction "The deep sand of FatCat is an intimidating test of technique, speed and fitness" Welcome to round three of the 2019 Judd KTM British Youth Championship. It’s an exciting time for us here at RHL Activities; we look forward to seeing some great racing at Fatcat Moto Parc. The midway point of the Official ACU British Youth Motocross Championship comes to the well-known circuit of Fatcat Moto Parc, Doncaster. The sandy circuit has played host to a round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship earlier this year along with many national and club events. The deep sand of FatCat is an intimidating test of technique, speed and fitness Part of our priority here at RHL Activities is to grow our sport, bring more junior riders into the championship and give our riders the very best platform to develop for the future. Over the last seven years I believe we’ve achieved a lot, and this season we will see another strong lineup of riders across all classes who will benefit from racing with the very best youngsters in the UK on some of the best tracks for their development. The Judd KTM British Youth Championship is the only gateway for young
4
riders to enter a World Championship event, and we look forward to seeing riders enjoy all the benefits of competing with us, while establishing themselves throughout the ranks of racing. We value all our partners who are incredibly important to the success and progression of the Judd KTM British Youth Championship. I would like to personally thank you all for your support, and we are of course highly motivated to continue our growth of the championship whilst improving it for existing riders, especially as we look to lead the way as the most professional youth series in Europe. I hope you all have a great weekend of racing and enjoy the third round for the 2019 season.

ABOUT RHL ACTIVITIES RHL Activities Ltd is synonymous with organising & promoting off road events and is recognised as one of the major companies within the industry to not only lead the sport, but raise the profile of the sport, from its traditional grass roots of muddy fields to high profile sporting and trading events, both indoor and outdoor. In 2008 RHL was rewarded for what was referred to by the press and public alike as the best British Grand Prix for a decade, with official recognition at the annual FIM awards presentation in Monaco, when Gareth Hockey stepped up to receive the Best Infrastructure Award at a Grand Prix event. Gareth Hockey is the man behind the RHL team, it is his drive and focus that spearheads the team, pushing and developing not only the company, but also encouraging the development and growth of the team and its individuals. over this period we have seen the championship grow year on year and when RHL took the championship over they started with very few riders to now having 200 plus rider competing in the Official ACU British Youth Championship. The championship see’s the best youth motocross riders throughout the UK battle it out for the British Championship titles across six rounds at the countries best tracks. The championship is the steppingstone for youth riders to get into the Maxxis British Motocross Championship and the World Championships. The company also runs the world famous Weston Beach Race which has been in existence over 35 years. The event is recognised as the biggest, maddest and baddest off road event on the UK calendar. The event is RHL’s version of the London Marathon with amateurs and professional riders competing together, over two days, with race classes ranging, from the youngest riders of 7 years old to the oldest rider in 2016 of 73, competing on both two and four wheels. DREW ANDERSON 2018 British 125cc Champion Drew Anderson talks Judd KTM British Youth Championship Drew Anderson won the 2019 ACU Judd KTM British 125cc Championship after an outstanding season of racing across the UK. At the end of the 2019 season Drew made the move up to a 250cc and signed up for the British Open Championship on-board his Judd Orange Brigade machine. Drew has had a positive start to the 2019 season at Culham and Whitby. He currently sits third in the Championship ahead of Fatcats, which marks the halfway mark of this year. We caught up with Drew to see how his season is going, to discuss Fatcats and more. RHL: How has the season gone so far for you? Drew Anderson: “This season started very rough for me. I haven’t been at half the pace I should be. I have struggled mentally but Ash and me are working hard to change that around. I am getting better and more confident each round.” RHL: Whitby hosted the second round of the Judd KTM British Youth Championship and was a new venue to the calendar. How was it for you? Drew Anderson: “Whitby was good for me, solid finished and the track worked really well even with the bad weather. I really enjoyed it there.”
I do a lot of jogging and mental training as well Drew Anderson: “I like Fatcats. I would like to show my real potential and finally get the speed I know I can. As long as I can do that ill be overall more than happy.” RHL: Going into the next round your 3rd in the British Open Championship with 446 points and 3 points off second place rider Max Ingham. How does it feel being 3rd currently in the Official British Open Championship? Drew Anderson: “It feels good to be in third but it’s not quite what I want. If I put it together I am sure I can hunt down that win if not second place.” RHL: Can you tell us a bit about what you do between meetings. Do you get much time on the bike practicing and training? Drew Anderson: “In between meetings I just practice and go to the gym. I do a lot of jogging and mental training as well.”
RHL: Finally what would you say to upcoming riders into the British Youth Championship? Drew Anderson: “I’d say just never give up, even when times get rough. You got to go backwards before you go RHL: We head to Fatcat Moto Parc in Doncaster for the forwards.” third round of the 2019 season. What are your thoughts To find out more how you can see the upcoming round on the track? Plus what are your plans and goals for the of the Judd KTM British Youth Championship at Fatcat Moto weekend? Rounding out the top five was Tommie Perfect and Brian Gyles. In the Junior 65cc class Reece Jones put on a strong performance with four of the five race wins, whilst Freddie Gardiner was runner up with a consistent performance throughout. Charlie Palmer was third overall, whilst Revo Husqvarna’s Ollie Colmer and Judd Orange Brigade’s Bailey Johnston took fourth and fifth positions. In the 125cc and Open races there were some bar banging battles especially with the front-runners in both classes. Taking the top of the podium in the 125cc class was Judd Orange Brigade’s Preston Williams thanks to a consistent performance over the weekend, and the
youngster retains his championship lead going into round three. Jack Grayshon was second and Judd Orange Brigade’s Louie Kessell took third. Clinching the top spot in the open class was Verde Sports KTM rider Dominic Lancett with four of the five available race victories. Max Ingham was second and Judd Orange Brigade’s Drew Anderson was third. The SCOTT Sports Holeshot Awards were given to riders reaching the SCOTT Sports line first for each moto throughout the weekend, with a total of 30 winners taking those all important points towards the Championship standings. RIDER QUOTES #90 Dominic Lancett I REALLY ENJOY RIDING AT FATCATS. IT’S ALWAYS PREPARED WELL AND A FUN RIDE. I HOPE TO STAY ON THE TOP THERE AND WE WILL SEE HOW THE WEEKEND PLAYS OUT #425 Drew Anderson I LIKE FATCATS. I WOULD LIKE TO SHOW MY REAL POTENTIAL AND FINALLY GET THE SPEED I KNOW I CAN. AS LONG AS I CAN DO THIS I WILL BE OVERALL MORE THAN HAPPY #711 Joel Fisher
FATCATS IS LOOKING REALLY GOOD. I REALLY LIKE THE NEW LAYOUT THERE AND AT HOW WELL IT FLOWS. MY PLANS ARE TO GET A GOOD QUALIFYING IN WHICH I’VE BEEN STRUGGLING TO DO LATELY. THEN I PLAN TO GET A TOP 10 ALL WEEKEND AND PROBABLY BREAK INTO THE TOP 5 WHICH I KNOW I CAN DO.
#7 Luke Hull I HAVE NEVER RACED AT FATCATS BUT HEARD IT’S MEANT TO BE A GREAT TRACK. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO RACING THERE AND MY AIM FOR THE WEEKEND IS TO BETTER MY RESULTS FROM WHITBY
