Hello and welcome to Cusses Gorse, round 2 of the 2015 Thor British Youth Nationals. Firstly I want to thank all of you guys for an amazing start to the championship, round 1 at Haverigg was superb in so many ways, the track, racing and support from each and every one of you was mind blowing. I would also like to thank the Cumbria Motocross club for their hard work and track preparation over the 2 days of exciting racing. Cusses Gorse is a hard packed circuit, a lot more compact than Haverigg with awesome viewing, some of you may know the track well and some of you may not, take your time in practice to get to know the layout and most of all enjoy it. Part of our priority here at RHL Activities is to encourage new riders into our championship, and this year we have nearly 40% of riders who are racing here today for the first time at British Championship level, we welcome you guys with open arms and the same for the established riders who have experienced the excitement of the series over the last few seasons. Since our very first British Youth National in 2012 the growth for the championship is very impressive, we have grown over 300% with registered riders and I would like to thank each and everyone of you for your amazing support - and we will continue to grow. Lets hope its a great weekend for all, and I hope you enjoy your time with us at Cusses Gorse.

ROUND 1 KICKS OFF IN STYLE T H E Y S AY T H E L A K E D I S T R I C T I S ‘ G O D S C O U N T R Y ’ A N D G O I N G B Y T H E A C T I O N AT H AV E R I G G M O T O PA R C F O R R O U N D 1 O F T H E T H O R B R I T I S H Y O U T H N AT I O N A L S - W E C E R TA I N LY A G R E E Gareth Hockey RHL Activities: “I couldn’t have asked for a better start to our championship, the weather was pretty much perfect, the guys at Cumbria Motocross Club worked their socks off with the track bearing in mind the track was underwater just 2 weeks ago and the racing in all classes was superb. Its always good to get the first round out of the way, not just for my team but for all the riders and parents, we can now look forward to an exciting season ahead with the 4 remaining rounds - well done everyone.” Maximum man Alex Brown was on fire in the 125 two stroke class, taking the checkers in all 6 races, chasing hard behind was Oliver Benton in second who tried his

best to catch the flying Brown but just couldn’t squeeze enough fire power out of his KTM. Dee-Jay Walker topped the podium in third. In the Junior class it was good to see so many new faces on the start line, sand is always daunting for the youngest class of the championship but every single rider rode their hearts out in all 6 tough races. Charlie Heyman was the man to beat with 5 out of 6 race wins, Vinnie Guthrie took race 1 but just missed out on a podium finish in fourth. Charlie Palmer and Alfie Jones both rode magnificently to complete the podium line up. Bradd-Lee Timmis and Raife Broadley rounded off the top 6.

Full results from round 1 can be found HERE Round 2 of the 2015 Thor British Youth Nationals will take place on May 9/10 at Cusses Gorse near Salisbury. Places are still available for round 2, to book in and register please call Penny on 01873 840640 or email penny@rhlactivities.com

2015 The BW85 class produced 4 different race winners, Dylan Woodcock, Daniel Bewley, Jed Etchells and Sam Price but it was Team Green’s Dylan Woodcock who took the honours this time around in what is set to be yet another year of bar banging action in the remaining 4 rounds of the BYN. Callum Mitchell and Harry Kimber both rode consistently well to finish on the podium - expect these 2 riders to win races sometime in 2015. Finishing off the top 6 were Tom Grimshaw, Ben Clark and Sam Price round 2 is going to be amazing. Exact same happened in the SW85 class, 6 amazing races with 3 different race winners, Lewis Hall, Kacey Hird and Joel Rizzi and like their big wheeled counterparts it was another Team Green rider who topped the podium with 4 race wins. The racing was so close in the deep sand of Haverigg, we could have had a different winner in every moto. Kacey Hird and Sam Nunn did enough to finish on the podium ahead of Eddie Wade in fourth, Lewis Wood in fifth and Joel Rizzi in sixth. In the B Group combined 85cc race it was Jack Abbott who raced to the checkers first ahead of Kelton Gwyther and Billy Collins. Consistency won the day in the competitive British Open class with Jordan Eccles coming out on top in 6 exciting races and 2 races wins, Jay Lamb will walk away knowing he has the speed to challenge Jordan after winning 4 of the 6 races - expect fireworks at Cusses Gorse for round 2. Luke Smith finished runner up with 6 consistent point scoring rides, Jay was third, Robbie Dowson, George Grigg-Pettitt and Jay Hague all finished in the top 6 to round off an amazing weekend of racing at Haverigg Moto Parc.

M A X X D O M I N AT SIMPSON AND ANSTIE CONTINUE MAXXIS D O M I N AT I O N AT C A N A D A H E I G H T S Canada Heights in Kent marked the third round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship powered by Skye Energy. The hillside circuit had seen a major redesign during the winter months and featured a new circuit layout. Overnight rain left the circuit in ideal condition for racing, during the qualifying sessions there was no surprises as MX1 series leader Shaun Simpson took his Hitachi Construction Machinery Revo KTM UK to pole whilst Monster Energy DRT Kawasaki’s Max Anstie took pole position in the MX2 class, with both claiming pole by nearly two seconds a lap faster than their other rivals. Buildbase Honda Racing Team’s Kristian Whatley joined Simpson with an early fast lap whilst third place

qualifier, Tanel Leok on the LPE Racing Kawasaki set his fastest lap towards the end of the session. Jake Nicholls on the Wilvo Forkrent KTM was also on the pace and looking strong with a determined fourth fastest time ahead of Gert Krestinov on the second Buildbase Honda. Anstie’s MX2 pole position left Dyer and Butler KTM’s Steven Lenoir heading the chasing pack with Petar Petrov on Hitachi Construction Machinery Revo KTM UK posting his best qualifying of the season, less than three hundredth of a second adrift. Likewise, Adam Sterry on Wilvo Forkrent KTM and Pendrich Height Services Kawasaki’s Bryan MacKenzie were also on the pace, just fractions of a second behind Petrov, but nearly two seconds ahead of the rest of the field.

In the MXY2 class Monster Energy DRT Kawasaki’s rider Jay Hague dominated his qualifying session with Oliver Osmaston on the MXW Racing Chichester Honda and Honda UK Rookie Team member Albie Wilkie getting the good gate picks by virtue of their second and third places. During the races it was Max Anstie who continued his domination of the MX2 class after missing the opening round in mid-March due to injury. Since his return to championship Anstie has taken 6 out of 6 race win and is now just sixteen points behind new series leader Steven Lenoir. Frenchman Lenoir come into the Canada Heights event as the joint series leader and took over the lead after taking second overall on the day. Harri Kullas on the Heads and All Threads Suzuki found his form at Canada Heights and collected a well-deserved third overall after taking 2-4-6 finishes. Unfortunately both Ben Watson and Adam Sterry suffered a torrid day and lost valuable points in the championship standings. In the MX1 class Simpson maintains his 100% MX1 win record Simpson’s maximum now means he is forty points clear of his nearest rival Tanel Leok who admitted to not being able to push at the sandy Kent circuit due to feeling unwell but still managed to secure second overall with a 2-4-2 scorecard, whilst fellow countryman Gert Krestinov took his first podium of the current campaign with 3-2-4 finishes. Krestinov now takes over third in the series edging his team mate Kristian Whatley down to fourth. Canada Heights marked the second round of the MXY2 championship at it was Jay Hague who took the top step of the podium and the red plate as series leader whilst David Keet on the Danger UK Husqvarna posted 6-2-6 results to edge Oliver Osmaston to third, after having a no score in the second moto, but two race wins. The Championship now takes a five week break before the action resumes at Hawkstone Park on the 7th June.
