Increased need Our frontline teams continue to see increased need. This year, we have seen fewer women breaking free and exiting street sex work, with housing and addiction support issues, relationship breakdowns and benefits change all contributing to women’s

Externalwork.services have been increasingly stretched and more women have come to us in mental health crisis. Women have also continued to report an increase in levels of violence towards them (up 53% since the start of the pandemic).

Women’s voices We continue to listen to women and shape services in response. Their feedback was integral in expanding our van outreach to seven nights each week. They told us it was needed, and so far, we’ve seen higher numbers of women using our van at the weekend. If funding allows, we hope to make this extension permanent. Women were also involved in recruiting me into the CEO role. They interviewed candidates and asked key questions such as, ‘How will you ensure that the women’s needs are heard in the city?’ This was an incredibly inspiring experience and made me want the job even more!

It has been wonderful to have our services fully open throughout 2021-22 after the challenges of the last two years. We have been privileged to walk alongside these amazing women who share their lives with us. Together we have supported 234 brave and resilient women to feel safer and loved.

“We have been privileged to walk alongside these amazing women who share their lives with us"

We are delighted to keep working closely with our incredible partners to create better pathways for women and improve systems. Our Pause programme has been extended to pilot in North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. This will offer more women the opportunity to work towards a more positive future, based on her own unique needs and aspirations.

Our work with Avon and Somerset Police is strong and we value and celebrate their dedication to ending violence against women and girls. Over two years, our partnership with Changing Futures will support 20 women who have experienced abuse and multiple disadvantage and will identify areas of systems change needed. Thanks I am so encouraged by our dedicated supporters who contribute so much to One25: volunteering their time and skills, fundraising for us, donating, and spreading the word further afield. Thank you to each and every one. Together we keep going. For as long as she needs. For every woman.

Building partnerships

As part of our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion aims, a current priority for One25 is to work on our organisation being anti-racist. We want to be representative of the women who need our services, and we want to better understand the experiences of People of Colour who come into our spaces. We want One25 to be an inclusive workplace where everyone has a voice. Our journey to be a Psychologically Informed Environment continues. We want to ensure that our services and structures are set up to deliver trauma-informed approaches for women, staff, and volunteers. All staff now have reflective practice to support them to connect with and support their team members, and have a space to take a step back and consider their practices. This year we will develop One25’s first digital strategy. We hope to gain a clearer view of how digital is currently helping us to achieve our objectives and to identify clear ways that we can build our sustainability and resilience.

This year, our founder Val Jeal, became the first woman to receive the Freedom of The City award from Bristol City Council, recognising her vital contribution to the life of the city. It is such an honour to continue the work that Val began back in 1995.

“It was the greatest privilege of my life to work with those women who I’ve grown to love and admire. It was the best job I ever had. Over the years I’ve seen women take hold of their lives and be fulfilled.” Val Jeal

Congratulations!

Our finances Every pound counts as we carefully manage what we have: to always be there for women in crisis, to stay with them, to respond however they need and to support them to take brave steps beyond trauma to freedom. Volunteer One25.org.uk/volunteer

This year 138 volunteers gave over 5,000 hours to keep One25 going!

“I have loved fundraising for One25 both on my own and with my work. It’s amazing to see the impact we’ve made by raising funds and awareness of the charity through dressing as a banana, cake sales and tombolas, sleeping out and one night sleeping in my bath!”
