BLOB Convertible Hammock

2009

An outdoor hammock designed to offer maximum comfort and relax. It’s usable in different positions, depending on the user’s needs. In comparison to traditional hammocks, Blob can be certainly considered original for its design and multifunctionality. The hammock is composed by 40 “disk pillows” tied together with a rope. There are two metal triangles and bars to complete the hammock and tie it up so that it remains suspended. Finally it can be used as a mattress or an ottoman by simply adjusting the ropes thanks to plastic regulators placed at the ends. The rope can be loosen up and the hammock folded.

ELEVEN STATION Studying Desk

2010

This project consist in conceiving and designing a desk / study area adaptable to all areas outside the classrooms where students need to gather in order to study and work also in groups. This project refers in particular to the building of Design (In Bovisa) of the Politecnico of Milan. The idea is simple but functional: it responds to the student needs, is modular, usable in different positions and space-saving. The structure is made of balsa wood and polyurethane foam covered with a superficial plastic film. There is also a slot in the desk that serves both as a pen holder and as a handle in order to be able to carry it around.

BOLS BAR Itinerant Bols Bar

2010

The goal was to re-design the space of a container ISO 20’ and its function. This project concerns an itinerant bar where Bols is the company taken as reference and inspiration. Because of its small size, everything has been designed in detail. Inside the container there are shelves, a corner bar and several tanks of Blos liqueurs, a prime liquor company, from which you can sample the flavors to be ordered. The further peculiarity of this container is its convertibility. Using an automated system with hydraulic pistons, one side can be opened by becoming part of the floor and the tables with their seats are pulled out to be used. When, however, it remains closed tables are stretched against the wall in order to save space and the seats serve as shelves.

14

SLIDER Convertible Cabinet

2011

Slider is a cabinet designed for the living room. The style is coherent with the company LAGO to which reference is made. The project aims to meet all those needs and activities that we normally see in the living rooms nowadays, such as watching television, reading, playing video games, relaxing and so on. The cabinet is composed of two main elements sliding on wheels and along special rails. Both have doors that open with shelves inside. The central part instead remains stationary consisting of a panel that acts as a support for the flat screen TV and a objects compartment to store objects below.

FELTFRIES SOFA Sofa & Chaise Longue

2011

Feltfires is a bench seat that converts into a chaise longue. The idea came from the desire of designing a lounge chair for “reading. Is composed of a plywood base that serves as a support for the seat and a space for storage. In particular, there is an upper section designed with wood strips that serves as a book holder and magazine rack. The mat instead is composed of several strips of felt held together by two ropes passing between them. Due to the material itself and the tension of the strings the mattress can be adjusted in different positions: at the ends there are two thinner parts that allow to lie flat down or in a curved-shape for leg support (chaise longue).

ESD SKILL Electric Screwdriver

2012

ESD Skill is the result of ergonomic, functional and of configuration studies of the classic Skill electric pen screwdriver already on the market. This project aims at addressing these issues. It no longer has a unique rigid position, which can be uncomfortable at times, and thanks to a rotary mechanism the product can be used in two different configurations: as a “pen” and as a “gun”. A screws holder support has also been inserted to help keep the screw on the tip during the screwing process. Other details are the griped parts to provide always a better hold and the placement of the buttons and battery for easy access.

MAGPLER Magnetic Stapler

2012-2013

Magpler is a magnetic stapler designed to give complete freedom of movement on the surface to be stapled. Analyzing a classical stapler, it was found that improvements could be made on important points such as form and methods of use. Magpler is composed of two elements joinable and separable thanks to magnets. To be more manageable and to prevent it from losing the base it is also possible to place it inside the shell of the main component. The mechanism inside is standard but it can be used in any position on the sheet or even as a stapler gun to fix sheets/ papers on a bulletin board.

SALATINO Automatic Water Salter

2013

This project is an automatic water salter, developed in collaboration with SAES Getters which consist on a mechanism that automatically release salt only when the water starts to boil. The object is composed of simple pieces but the fundamental element that performs the function of an actuator is the spring. It is made of a shape memory alloy that thanks to its particular properties is able to activate itself and open the plunger that holds the sealed salt container, so that it releases the salt to then dissolve in the water.

DIMIDIA Silicon Pot

2013

Dimidia is a bi-materic pot designed in collaboration with the company Lagostina. It’s composed of steel and silicon which, thanks to its elastic properties, can be folded downwards, saving up to 40% of the space in height. This becomes useful for storage in closets or in case you want to use it as a casserole in the oven. The silicone is also placed on the handles for a better grip when used.

HALFA Electric Vehicle for Disabled

2013-2014

Halfa is a project developed in collaboration with Ducati Energia. It was conceived as an electric quad for disabled people who need to get around the city independently. For this reason, attention was focused on the case of use of the vehicle and it was necessary to engineer almost every single piece. As a guidance system a dumbbell has been incorporated, instead of a usual steering wheel, in order to facilitate movement and avoid the use of the legs. For accessing and exiting the vehicle, a rear ramp and a fabric roof have been designed, both automated with only one step motor, in order to have a wide opening.

MAGNETIC ISLAND Magnetic Island’s Website

2014

Magnetic Island is a resort island on the east coast of Australia. The project was to create a website to promote tourism and give information about the island. The site had to be well organized, with menus, linked sub-menus and especially “responsive” and able to adapt its format in function of the screen size from which it is displayed.

SALUS Health Device

2014

Salus is esssentially a health device that allows you to constantly monitor and check your physical contition. The device is basically composed by two elements. There’s a bracelet that works as an instrument able to gather information from your body and there’s a receiver that has the function of analysing this input and subsequently advising you on your diet and on what type of food you should eat every day in order to be healthier. The image of everything that’s related to the product (advertising, instructions, packaging, considering the storage and stacking) were important components of the project.

44

45

Connect and plug in the device

Turn it on the receiver pushing the turn on/off button

Put on the bracelet

Push again the on/off button and hold it for 3 seconds to synchronize it with the bracelet

Use the touch screen to get through the different options and programs.

Ready to use!

RECLINE Mouse & power bank

2015

Recline it’s an innovative product, integrated with a laser sensor and a rechargeable battery, which allows you to use it as a mouse when it’s connected to a smartphone (using a dedicated application) or even as power bank in case of necessity. A single object that in its simplicity and ingenuity is capable of performing multiple functions and reduce the number of objects that otherwise we would be forced to take with us. To do so the upper shell, in addition to close the object on itself, acts as a support for the hand and, using a specific button placed on the side, it can be adjusted in different inclinations. Instead the another button placed on the opposite side is designed to turn on and off the device and check the battery status. In this project everything it’s been studied from the first analysis and ideas to the production.

BATH LINE A Bathroom Set

2011

A bathroom set designed for Auchan Prod divided into three classes: a first one “pouce” cheaper, a second “first price” and finally the last one “Auchan brand.” The idea was to find a good compromise between design, shape, portability, and production processes that would allow to work on a single product (and therefore to start from a single mold). Subsequently, variating the materials and on the possibility for certain products to add extra parts (like the basket, as an example). Materials used to vary the quality of the product are plastic, glass and ceramics.

BIDON D’HUILE Plastic Tank

2011-2012

The demand for new bottles for motor oil or windshield fluid was born from the need to have a even more ergonomic grip and a better, modern design. The study of the handle, ergonomy and spaces have allowed to realize a product even more compact (for packaging and storage). The handle has two different inclinations and the bottle is also graspable from below to facilitate the usage.

Bidon d’Huile comes in 2 versions: One of 2 liters and one of 5. These are the final products already been produced and on the market.

RULERS SET Set of Rulers and Squares

2011

Set of squares and rulers of different types and different concepts. In one the idea is to have on each instrument a small gripping handle and the possibility to be able to position it at any point along the cut. An another one is made of aluminum, considerably more resistant and precise, and at the ends of the rulers there are two rubber parts that can be used as erasers. Finally there are aslo rulers and protractor that can be fixed together allowing you to use the common ruler as if it was a square.

U-PLUG Electrical Power Strip

2011-2012

U-Plug is an electrical power strip with compact dimensions and easy to use. The curved shape has allowed to position 6 angled sockets using as little space as possible. It has a power button located at one far end that is easy to press even with the foot and, at the other end, a silicone strap that allows you to group and tie the wires together. Whereas its cable can be wound around it by following the appropriate binary. Another detail is the attachment of plastic with a dual function that serves as a hook for the exposure in stores and as a eventual attachment to the wall. It can be broken into three parts, two of these can be fixed to the wall with screws so that the power strip can be hooked on them.

POT DE FLEUR Plastic Recyclable Vase

2011

The project was to provide a support for the label to a platic pot that could also act as a handle and / or eventual support rod for the plant. And all had to be recyclable. Being that the pot was already provided and therefore not modifiable, it was important to study and determine the right hook to use (and all from a single mold). This developed shape allows a person to pick it up, and eventually hook it on the cart using one end of the label, and to stick it into the ground as a support for the plant.

FOOD BOX Plastic Food Container

2011-2012

The demand for new food containers was born from the need to lower production costs and look for a better and modern design. The company wanted to create two different lines using the same materials: one standard and the other one air tight, adding a locking system on the lid. So the idea was to use a universal container and two different lids. Other important variables considered were easy opening, stacking and the space reduced for the storage. The result considering all of these aspects was a simple design and an innovating locking system. The system is no longer outside but inside thus giving a flat profile to the container.

CUP’S Sport’s Equipment

2011-2012

CUP’S is the sport brand of Auchan. The idea for this project was to change the image and aspect of some products consistently with the new logo and philosophy. My work was mostly on the winter section. As for the other product lines, this had to be thought in three different categories, one for kids, one for juniors and the last one for adults, all respectively divided for men and women. Items were already given, so this work was limited on graphics, materials and finishes, almost never on remodelling the object. Products are: ski masks, helmets, ice hockey skates, figure skates, roller blades and skate bags.

POP Graphic for Devices

2012

Pop takes its name and its lively design from its application context, as well as the hi-fi sector. It’s a graphic label to be applied to various products such as tablets, earphones, headsets, cases, mouses etc.. The graphic responds to a generic user (for all) for the Auchan stores, it’s colorful and not too technical.

ALIVE Tablet Device

2012

Alive is a concept for the new Auchan tablet. The intent was to create a product with clean, modern lines. Its particularity is to look almost stratified, using two aluminum shells. Among them the seam gets exploited, intentionally wider, to make room to input ports, speakers (which remain hidden), power and battery LEDs. In addition, the flash / torch placed on the rear has the particularity to wrap the camera for better lighting.

80

81

O LIGHT Dishwasher Machine

2012

O light was conceived as a proposal for the new line of Auchan home appliances. Focal points of this project were the interface and utilization. The control panel is placed inside the appliance so that the front panel stays clean and linear. On the exterior the innovation has been on the handle, which being recessed, remains at the level of the surface panel. In the concave part there are some LEDs going off in progression to warn the user about the washing progress. When the cycle is terminated instead, the entire handle gets lighted as an invitation to open the door.
