Residences by Richard Beard, FAIA
Richard Beard Architects operates as a small, client-focused team of residential architects and designers. Every project is approached individually and without preconceptions of style or solution. Through an interactive design process, each home is tailored to both the client and site, beginning with a careful consideration of the client’s program and site evaluation. Richard’s work has been cited for its successful integration with that of the most talented interior designers and landscape architects. All these projects—and more—were executed while Richard was a principal at BAR Architects.

e begin the highly personal design process for someone’s home based on the simple belief
that listening, looking, learning and observing are
the best ways to craft a great design. From our clients’ desires,
histories, and aspirations, from the land and setting, and from our own knowledge of building arts we construct enduring designs that embrace the gentle art of living.
The homes in this book owe a clear debt of gratitude to our clients, without whose projects there would be no book. They challenged us to achieve the things we have. And we are fortunate to have
worked with many talented landscape and interior designers, as
well as contractors, who helped insure that the work is more than just the sum of its constituent parts.
