Set against a backdrop of a tropical paradise our Spa menu selects the best in International face and body treatments, combining them with local signature touches, drawing upon the cultures and environmental surroundings of the region. RELAXATION

Relaxation is about putting yourself into a space where you can truly start to unwind both body and mind. Having a sense of freedom of thought evokes positivity and renewed energy through calm.

Relaxation is about more than just taking a holiday and changing your daily routine…..relaxation is personal; what is relaxing for one person is different for another and many different spheres can achieve relaxation.

……lingering in bed longer than usual allowing the warmth of a new day permeate your inner soul; watching the sunset over the sea and letting your thoughts melt away whilst sipping a refreshing cocktail;

EXERCISE

Exercise improves mental health, helps prevent depression, helps to promote or maintain positive self-esteem and can even augment an individual’s libido or body image.

Physical exercise is any bodily activity that enhances or aintains physical fitness and overall health and wellness and is essential for a long and healthy life. No matter what your preferences, physical condition or age, you will find exercise that you enjoy at the resort. With a fully equipped fitness centre to cater towards both specific and traditional fitness regimes including a host of classes throughout the day. From aqua to stretching to rigorous workouts, rain forest walks or laps in the pool; we have it all. Our classes include Yoga, Pilates, Aerobics, Dance, Conditioning, Aqua, Stretch, Meditation plus many more….. The benefits of exercise are many. These include strengthening muscles, conditioning the

cardiovascular system, honing athletic skills, weight loss or maintenance and for enjoyment. Frequent and regular physical exercise boosts the immune system, releases happy endorphins and helps prevent the ‘diseases of affluence’. You will be able to complete a fitness assessment then choose to have a tailor made programme to meet your needs; our certified fitness professionals, both highly qualified and caring, will help you do it right. At regular intervals throughout the year Samsarati Spa hosts Boot Camp Transformation Residential stays, led by Industry experts


ENRICHMENT

The word education is derived from educare (Latin) “bring up”, which is related to educere “bring out”, “bring forth what is within”, “bring out potential” and ducere, “to lead”.

Education in the largest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense, education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills, and values from one generation to another. A step away from traditional or vocational education; our sessions are designed as enrichment programmes of lifestyle learning and inspiration. Everything from healthy cooking classes to

personal development classes; we have a wide varying schedule of different classes and experts throughout the year. Stimulating the mind with new experiences and learning new things creates new memories, inspiration and hope, plus a sense of fulfilment. When relaxation occurs in the mind and physical exercise awakes and aligns the body, the mind can engage and enrichment allows you to continue to the next pillar of wellness……


ACTIVITY

Activities allow our bodies to be challenged through the nature of cross training, stimulated by thought or competition, goal setting and accomplishment and in many respects, a social interaction with others

Movement comes in many forms and covers many areas and is key to our everyday physical abilities. We believe that in addition to exercise, it is important to vary routines and stimulate your mind through active pursuits which vary in physical exertion.

SLEEP

The purpose of sleep is clear and is often thought to help conserve energy, regulates metabolism and increases energy and mental focus.

Sleep is a naturally recurring state characterised by reduced or absent consciousness, relatively suspended sensory activity, and inactivity of nearly all voluntary muscles. It is distinguished from quiet wakefulness by a decreased ability to react to stimuli. Sleep is a heightened anabolic state, accentuating the growth and rejuvenation of the immune, nervous, skeletal and muscular systems. The optimal amount of sleep is not a meaningful concept unless the timing of that sleep is seen in relation to an individual’s circadian rhythms. The timing is correct when the two circadian markers

occur after the middle of the sleep episode and before awakening. Our surroundings are essential for restful and productive sleep, with pre sleep relaxation such as an aromatherapy bath or relaxing with non-engaging visual stimulus. A rewarding day of relaxation, exercise, enrichment and activity will be the equally balanced combination for good sleep.


NUTRITION

A healthy diet is one that helps maintain or improves health. It is important for lowering many chronic health risks, such as obesity, heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and possibly cancer.

Nutrition (also called nourishment or aliment) is the provision, to cells and organisms, of the materials necessary (in the form of food) to support life. Many common health problems can be prevented or alleviated with a healthy diet. The diet of an organism is what it eats, which is largely determined by the perceived palatability of foods. A healthy diet involves consuming appropriate amounts of all essential nutrients and an adequate amount of water. A healthy diet needs to have a balance of macronutrients (fats, proteins, and carbohydrates), calories to support energy needs, and micronutrients to meet the needs for human nutrition without inducing toxicity or excessive weight gain from consuming excessive amounts. At Smugglers Cove Resort & Spa, there is a wide array of healthy eating choices and Samsarati Spa suggestions to follow a balanced diet with cuisine that emphasises the key aspects of healthy eating with:

• Meals focus on healthy low GI vegetables and fruits; meat and fish and moderate portions of whole grains. Much of the produce is grown on site in a large organic vegetable garden where Guests can walk around and see the different varieties of vegetables and how they are cultivated • Most meals and on all menus, including vegetarian options, have dishes that are balanced with protein-rich foods. All food is prepared daily and fresh to order. • We use healthy fats that are beneficial to health, including extra-virgin olive oil and omega-3 fatty acids. We use a variety of sweeteners in moderation; we limit the use artificial sweeteners. • Our seafood is all caught locally, much of which is delivered by local fishermen each day directly to the beach cove. Our food is seasoned with herbs and spices to keep the use of salt at a minimum.
