After a painful breakup, some women forget to care for themselves. They try so hard to nurse their broken hearts that they lose sight of their health. Some get over the slump pretty quickly, while others take a while. What do you do then if you’ve had your heart trampled on? Well, since you’re alone, this doesn’t mean that you have to look miserable. You’ll obviously also have to work on your emotions. Take some time off just so you can be by yourself. Cry it out and sulk, but give yourself a deadline because real life is waiting to happen. The faster you try to cope with reality, the better it will be for you. So, be kind to yourself. Have some self-love and self-respect. Be mindful of the decisions you make as well because post-split days are sometimes the most difficult.

Look into becoming healthier. A lot of people out there actually lose tons of weight, but this isn’t because they’ve started eating healthy. The pain and stress can get to anyone, and your weight is usually the first to pay for it. It’s nice to lose a few pounds, but make sure you do it right. Others, however, pack on pounds because they turn to food for comfort. Whichever type you are, you need to make sure that you express your frustrations in a healthy manner. Hit the gym or take a run around the block. Exercise, as you know, releases endorphins. This is the very hormone that induces happiness. You’ll be in a much better mood as soon as you sweat it out.

Of course, you need to look at your appearance. You’re stressed and you’re most likely tired. All those nights crying in bed will start to show on your face. You’ll soon walk around looking more sullen as your bags start to show and your complexion starts to become sallow. Well, be

like those people who go for a makeover when getting over a breakup. Go to the parlor, style your hair, and feel the difference. Somehow, this will have a positive effect on you. Changing something about your appearance gives you a feeling of starting over. Plus, you’ll get a lot of comments from your friends. This should take your mind of your worries, even just for a while. Just don’t go for something too drastic unless you’re sure you’ll never regret your decision. Otherwise, ask someone who knows to go with you so that you’ll have a bud to reign you in when you go too far.

Lastly, always make your safety a priority. Yes, a breakup may feel like it’s the end of the world. Just allow time to heal you because there’s so much more to live for. Plus, a relationship doesn’t define who you are. When you go out with friends, know your tolerance for alcohol. Never drive home drunk and don’t be irresponsible when you’re with strangers. Go out with people you trust because your friends can keep you in check if the night becomes a little too wild.
