It’s so easy to screw up during your job interview. If you don’t really think about your answers, you could easily become forgettable. Of course, this is something you need to avoid at all costs. You can conquer these dreaded job interviews if you can conquer the many mistakes people commit. So, if you’re out on the hunt and want to land a good job, take note of the following tips. That way, you know that your chances are better than most and that you won’t be caught in a weak moment.

What you first need to do is take a look at the profile of the company you’re applying for and see what the position entails. It’s always good to do your research beforehand. By learning about the company, you can also see what they expect from their employees. You want to fit the bill perfectly. The interviewer is there to see if you can be a match and if you will be able to contribute to overall growth of the business.

Then, look back at your experiences and see how you’ve learned from many of them. Yes, you’ve made mistakes in the past, but then again, no one is perfect. The more important part is that you can rise above these low points and take in everything so that you don’t get to repeat these mistakes the next time around. Don’t highlight on what you did wrong. Rather, show them what you’ve learned from all of it.

Look through your list of achievements. Fresh graduates don’t have a lot of these, but people always appreciate those who have initiative. If you don’t have enough experience, you can attend training seminars that teach you new skills. Or, you can always volunteer for something because there are more than enough corporations out there who are willing to accept your servicers for free. Just remember your strengths so that you’ll have clear and specific answers on how you can be a stellar employee.

Come up with ideas for the position you aspire for. You can do this through research. There are people out there who are more than willing to share their experiences. Reap about what they have to say and see how you can make these plans your own. Aside from ideas, come up with questions that you want to ask as well. Interviewers always appreciate curiosity. This is a sign that you want to know more about the company. Look into their most recent projects and ventures. See how you can contribute and feel free to air out your concerns.

Lastly, look through the most asked questions as well: tell me something about you, what were the reasons behind you leaving your last position, how can you be an asset to this company, what are your long term goals, and so many more commonly asked questions. You will have to answer them well. Try not to make your answer generic and forgettable. In fact, feel free to add a bit of humor into it. That way, you become more memorable.
