Install bookmarking buttons in browser
- Go to http://www.delicious.com/help/ tools - Depending on the type of Internet Browser, install the browser buttons for saving bookmarks: • For Mozilla Firefox users: ‣ go to http://www.delicious.com/ help/quicktour/firefox
- Go to http://www.delicious.com/ - Click on ‘Join Now’ at the right top of the screen - Follow the instructions in order to set up an account. It is important to know that Delicious never ever has sent me junk mail. They do not misuse the data you give to them and therefore I can tell you that it is save to use your e-mail address
‣ click on the link ‘Install Firefox Add-On’. At the same page you can also read more about what you can do with these new browser buttons after installing the buttons successfully. • For Internet Explorer users: ‣ go to http://www.delicious.com/ help/quicktour/ie ‣ click on the link ‘Install Internet Explorer Add-On’. You will see a new page where you ca click on the link ‘Add Buttons’. Follow the instructions. To install the buttons successfully, you will be asked to close the browser. At the end of the installation, the browser is being started automatically.

Maintain your personal collection
When browsing on the Internet and finding an e-resource that adds value to your work, you want to save it to your Delicious account. How can you save a website? The first time you - Click on the icon will do this, your login and password has not been saved yet. Therefore a pop-up window asks to login to your account. Click on ‘Sign in’, fill in your username and password and click on sign in. By selecting the box ‘Keep me signed in’ you will not see this message in the future. - Again, click on the icon An new window opens. This is a description of the e-resource you want to include to your Delicious collection. The description exists of: ‣ URL: which is being included automatically ‣ TITLE: which is also being included automatically ‣ NOTES: not required, but her you can write a text about the eresource ‣ TAGS: by assigning your own tags/ keywords, it’s easier to retrieve the resource. With compounded term, such as political violence, make sure to use _ instead of a space (i.e. political_violence
4 Understanding your collection of e-resources To describe the different functionalities of your Delicious collection, I am using the the collection that is being managed and maintained by myself (which is available on http://www.delicious.com/lalleman/
1 = This is a personal account. By including a profile that is referring to my homepage, I make myself better visible and position myself perhaps better as independent consultant. When creating an organisational account, valuable eresources selected by colleagues are always available and accessible, even if the

person who saved the e-resource already left the organisation. When the organisation chooses that every staff member can create their own Delicious account, every saved e-resource in the different accounts that is about the work of the organisation, should include a special tag (i.e. focussinfo for the Focuss.Info Initiative). 2= This option (save a new bookmark) can be used when you do not want to use the bookmarking buttons. This option is useful when you manually want to add a PDF or WORD document 3= Here you can see how many eresources have been saved. Because these e-resources are available and open to everbody, other can re-use the content.

4= Once in a while an e-resource in a Delicious account indicates a blue number. In this example it is number 40. This means that there are 40 other people on Delicious who have saved the same eresource. By clicking on the blue number you can see who these persons are and have a look at their collection of eresources. This helps you learning from other and get to know new e-resources which you sometimes do not find with Google, Bing or Yahoo.
