performance notes: The piece consists of 21 lettered "segments" which are each played once Segments can be played in any order The score presented here is one possible combination Between each segment there is a pause up to, but not longer than, the length of the segment just played Each pause should last at least five seconds In segments A, B, K, N and P, the small notes can be played in any octave, but standard sized notes are played at the indicated pitch Sustain pedal to be held for the duration of the piece Quarter note is equal to about MM 40 Dynamics generally around pp mp The title is derived from John Cage's 45' for a Speaker
