1. URBAN CATALYST Ex ploring eventscapes using time as a material Events are communicating environments in which complex meanings are negotiated. They are consumed in a multitude of different ways by visitors. The architecture of the new emerging world is multipurpose, multifunctional, transient and a ceaseless flux of activities. The continued evolution of society implies the continued renewal of everyday experiences in the public forum, where ‘time’ becomes an inevitable material of engagement . What new world now taken over by fast paced- digital mediums are we entering into? The reality of a world where change is constant and even increasing in speed is that nothing lasts. The aim is to find a response to this question by analyzing the place, role and impact of architecture and time in the coming of the Information age.

2. UNIVERSITY NUCLUEUS University as an education-economy centre According to many studies, the coworking phenomenon is intrinsically associated to the urban lifestyle. The density and diversity of people and opportunities that a big metropolis produces, encourages the apparition of places where its fundamental purpose is sharing creativity. For cities, incubators offer a vision of what a city could be, or what a city aspires to be. Functionally distinct from classrooms, libraries and student unions, academic incubators establish new forums for idea exchange on campus. Designed to spark strategic partnerships between academia and industry, incubators connect students to start-ups, investors and other collaborators they might not otherwise encounter. The insert aims to provide a setup which caters to students , university and the industry and becomes the social acting core

3. THE BRIDGE Providing an interface for past and future of public commons

Brief: TO DESIGN A HYBRID PROGRAM INSERT FOR LIBRARY AND A DRONE PORT IN JUHU, A MEDIUM DENSITY AREA WITHIN SUBURBAN MUMBAI USING GENERATIVE DIAGRAMMING TO IDENTIFY CORE CONSTRAINTS, VARIABLES AND PROJECT PARAMETERS FOR DESIGN FORMATION. Concept:Urban traffic situation is an important condition for urban life and production, as well as a part of the city and its dynamics process. The development of urbanization includes the development of urban traffic, thus incorporating the evolving modes of transport. The insert aims to link the evolving notion of a conventional library with the forthcoming mode of delivery through a design narrative that follows an impression of a journey. Using transparency, interpretive nodes and democratic learning through design as a mode to hub the library and drone-delivery port. A bridge of transforming functions of an urban city.

4. JUHU COURTYARD Removing the public front door Toilets are the symbol of hygiene and sanitation in human life. The three key elements of promoting hygiene are; mutual sharing of information and knowledge, the mobilisation of affected communities and the provision of essential material and facilities. Juhu being a very active and commercial space invites in people of many different categories. In addition to that the huge spread of slums also needs to be addressed to. Thus health and hygiene in toilets and baths become very important to be taken care of. The meaning of “the toilet reforming” is much more than just the functional reforming. It is an urban public courtyard which serves a wide range of users. It also incorporates the diversity of daily life, and creates an atmosphere of elegance and comfort. It is part of the shaper and fabric of the harmonic city. This particular transition space is constrained by various codes but also is someplace where the little rituals of going from inside to outside, or vice versa, can be accommodated .it allows movement by removing the public front door.

5. THE KATLA FABRIC Micro managing the old streets for new generations Jaipur, also known as the ‘Pink City’ of India, is one of the most historically and culturally prosperous cities of India. A peek into the affluence and life of the royals; the chaos, hustle, and noise of the markets and the roads; the colourful, happy, and chattering people and the contrasting serene pockets and narrow lanes of shade from the summer sun all provide a majestic and fascinating experience Well-defined public areas of varying degrees of privacy have been found at the junctions of these networks leading to very vital and dynamic spaces for the people.Due to fast paced new add-on activity to these closed pockets the streets have rendered to be ill-equipped. We propose micro interventions in one of the oldest markets of Jaipur, Purohit ji ka Katla with urban conservation of main commercial streets.Realignment of bazaars to cater to the informal sector by providing space for the displaced and linking the Baramdas with the kinetic revitalization Use the concept of spatial hierarchies to reorganise spaces for optimum efficiency of the heritage of the city.

6. THE PRINT Emergence in Nature Emergent behavior is the global (systematic) consequence of local interactions of individuals in the system’s population. A pattern in nature is an emergent property because it is the result of a systematic interaction of its component parts. These systems operate as if they have organized themselves This “self-organization” is an emergent behavior caused by the actions of all individuals within the system acting upon a fixed set of rules. Fingerprint patterns are created as the result of a buckling instability in the basal cell layer of the fetal epidermis. We propose that this stress is induced by resistance of furrows and creases to the differential growth of the basal layer and regression of the volar pads during the time of ridge formation. The pattern type is related to the geometry of the fingertip surface when fingerprint patterns are formed. Using this pattern we aim to generate a study of formation and dynamic mechanism of the structure , realising it into a street furniture

Shriya Bhatia Location Sacred Hearts School,Kalyan Proposal Educational division for 11th & 12th Site area 43,150 sq.m Brief To design a NetZero building system Team Ecolution represents NMIMS University, India. We propose a holistic approach to the education scenario in India. A multidisciplinary team and technical support of our Industry partners we direct our design towards fostering a lifetime of associations, between the school and its students. Nurturing the insert as a net-zero energy, low carbon and resource efficient solution, catering specifically to the hot-and-humid climate zone prevalent in Kalyan.

Approach Building on India’s First Eco School rated project, through The Sacred Heart Association we selected the second phase of expansion of the school for the 11th and 12th standard. . The existing school campus comprises of a an e-library, design labs, rainwater harvesting system, catchment pond, in-house fabrication & production unit, livestock management, waste recycling and a functional solar power generation set-up. Considering the reuse systems in place we strongly pursued an enhanced passive-energy strategies, balanced and affordable proposal. . We develop an optimized building massing achieving thermal comfort through natural ventilation and mixed mode operations. With special attention to shading devices, roof insulations and at the same time accommodating project partner demands.

A biogas system reusing the produced green, brown and animal waste on site, to supply for fuel to the nearby RSSB & the school kitchen, successfully creating a Net-Positive energy building.. Several climate models were employed to check the thermal, lighting, wind, comfort and acoustic performance of the building. A lot of attention was paid to the type and kind of landscaping in and around the building, to minimise the cooling and dehumidification by 20%. 66

9. REVIVNG LAKSHWADEEP WATERS The LA+ CREATURE Year 2020 Team Shreya Gupta| Harshiv Vaghela BRIEF Choose a nonhuman creature as your client (any species, any size, anywhere) and identify its needs (energy, shelter, procreation, movement, interaction, environment, etc.). LocationSuheli Par ,Lakshwadeep One major site of coral bleaching, as a consequence of the El-nino currents is Suheli Par, Lakshadweep, India. Suheli, one of the least inhabited atoll from the archipelagos.. The 20-114 m deep corals suffer from extensive bleaching, due to the alarming increase in the water temperature. It impacts around 40-90% coral population in the atoll. We look at regulating these temperature differences, by improving sea water movement at the subsurface levels. A simple insert along the reef periphery, inspired by water temperature regulation by fish gills. This piece of biomimicry, takes in surrounding benthic layer water, channels it through a series of villi folds. The insert holistically also serves to provide for the marine fauna. Best suited for Suheli, it can also be tweaked and placed in shallow reef waters ranging from depths of -22 to -114 m. 68
