Teams compete in the Madison Area Youth Soccer League during the fall and spring. The Mt. Horeb Soccer Club is a parent run organization and is not affiliated with the Mt. Horeb Recreation Department.

MISSION STATEMENT The mission of the Village of Mount Horeb Recreation Department is to provide high quality leisure-time services and facilities to the residents of Mount Horeb. This is accomplished through department programs and services as well as the preservation and improvement of the local environment.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION
1) Pay by credit card online at http://activenet.active.com/ mhrd or complete the registration form on page 31. 2) Payment must accompany your registration form. You can write your credit card information on the form or include cash or check. Make checks payable to the Village of Mount Horeb. Credit cards (VISA, MASTERCARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS) are accepted at the Recreation Department. 3) Send to or drop off at the Mount Horeb Recreation Department, 222 E. Front St., Mount Horeb, WI 53572. A drop box is located outside the front door for your convenience.

EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION The Mount Horeb Recreation Department is taking applications for lifeguards, summer kids camp staff and softball umpires. If interested, please contact the Recreation Department for an application. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.
NON-SUFFICIENT FUNDS POLICY A $20.00 service charge will be assessed on all checks returned due to Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF). Once an NSF check occurs, all future registrations must be paid by cash or money order.
TEAM PHOTOS
We welcome all individuals and families from our community to use our parks and recreation programs regardless of race, religion, sex, national origin, age, or disability. Those individuals with special needs are encouraged to notify us at least two weeks in advance to help us accommodate your request.
Team or individual photos are an option for basketball, cheerleading, t-ball, coach pitch, soccer and flag football. If you choose not to purchase photos, please have your child attend the photo shoot for those who would like to purchase a team photo. Pictures will be sent directly to your home.
ON-SITE REGISTRATIONS
PUBLICITY
Instructors will NOT be allowed to accept registrations or payments at class locations. All registration transactions must be completed at the Recreation Department office or online prior to class start date.
RESIDENT/NON-RESIDENT A resident is anyone who resides within the Mount Horeb Village limits. All others are considered non-residents, and will be charged an additional $10.00 to the resident rate. This charge is assessed per person per program. This additional non-resident fee helps with staffing costs and equipment expenses for our programs.
WEATHER CANCELLATIONS If you are wondering if a class or program is cancelled due to weather, you can call our cancellation line at 437-3400 ext. 9.
REGISTRATION DEADLINES/LATE FEES A $5.00 late fee will be added to your payment if postmarked after the registration deadline dates listed. Please plan ahead.
REFUND POLICY A refund will be issued when a program is cancelled by the Recreation Department. Cancellations made two working days or more prior to the scheduled start date of an activity will have a $2.00 surcharge. Refunds or credits will not be issued if you cancel out of an activity less than two working days from the program start date. A credit (minus a $2.00 surcharge plus fees for classes already attended) will be issued in the case of illness or injury. Credits can be used for any recreation program in the future. Please note that online convenience fees are non-refundable.
The Mount Horeb Recreation Department reserves the right to utilize photos and names of participants for publicity purposes. Participants not wanting their names and/or photo used, must notify the Recreation Department in writing at the time of registration.
PROGRAM CANCELLATIONS Programs may be cancelled if minimum registrations are not met or facility issues occur. You will be notified before the start date if an activity is cancelled.
WAIVER OF LIABILITY The Village of Mount Horeb is not responsible for any injuries sustained as a result of participation in any department sponsored activities, or while using departmental facilities. Each pair will be painting a darling pair of owls on a branch. The pair will be sharing a 16 x 20 canvas working together to create one beautiful painting that they will both cherish. Throughout the painting, we will be talking about primary, secondary and complimentary colors. We will also talk about bold, colorful graphics. These paintings turn out to be beautiful master pieces, fun to hang as we head into summer. This will be a wonderful activity for both you and your child to enjoy! Feel free to dress in your costume to add to the Halloween atmosphere. Caution to parents, this haunted hike may scare children and will include scary costumes and props. All children 8 years of age and younger must take a swim test if they want to swim in the deep end of the main pool. Ask a lifeguard to administer this test.
ADULT SUPERVISION It is our policy that any child 8 years of age or younger must be with an adult or teenage babysitter at all times. Parents, not the pool staff, are responsible for their children regardless of the child’s age.
POOL CAPACITY AND FACILITY CAPACITY The Mount Horeb Family Aquatic Center has a pool capacity of 337. The facility capacity will be set at 400 patrons in the fenced in pool area at one time. Once we reach capacity, we will not allow anyone else into the facility.
LAP SWIM
The pool staff will place a lane line in from 5:00p.m. until 6:00p.m. every day of the week, except on Sunday, which is Family Night, and during special events. We will also have lap swim on Friday mornings from 11:30a.m.-12:15p.m. (excluding 6/16, 7/14 and 8/11). Lap swim is FREE to pass holders, otherwise, a $2.00 fee is required. MOUNT HOREB SWIMMING LESSONS
Specific times of each level can be viewed on our online registration website (https://activenet.active.com/mhrd) or you can stop in to the Recreation Department or call us at (608) 437-3400. In case of inclement weather, contact the Aquatic Center at (608) 437-5916, and listen for the prompt to hear cancellations. Swimming lesson classes will not be made up unless MORE than two classes per session are cancelled. Online registration is available for swim lessons. Please review the levels to place your child in the correct class.

SWIMMING LESSON REGISTRATION You may register online for swim lessons or you can register at the Recreation Department between 7:15a.m.-4:30p.m Monday-Thursday and 7:00a.m.-12:00p.m. on Friday. Full payment is required to guarantee placement. NO PHONE-IN REGISTRATIONS ACCEPTED. SWIM LESSON POLICY: If we do not have at least three participants in a particular class, we will cancel that class. If this occurs, we will call you to see if you can switch to another time slot or session. If you are not able to switch, you will receive a full refund. Thank you for your cooperation.

FEES
PRESCHOOL 1 (2 - 4 YEARS) Purpose: Designed for children who have little experience in the water or in a class setting. Emphasis is on water orientation and adjustment. Age appropriate instruction will be given on basic water skills that develop coordination and confidence in the water through songs, games and activities.
PRESCHOOL 2 (3 - 4 YEARS) Prerequisite: Must be comfortable putting face in the water Purpose: Instruction given on elementary water skills including going under water, front/back float, blowing bubbles, kicking skills, an introduction to the front/back crawl, and water safety.
MINNOWS Prerequisite: must be 4 years old at the start of lessons Skills to be worked on include: Blowing bubbles through mouth and nose 3 sec., bobbing at least 3 times, opening eyes underwater and retrieving objects, water entry and exit, front glide (with support), back glide (with support), back float (with support), roll from front to back and back to front (with support), treading water in chest-deep water, combined arm and leg action on front and back (with support), and water safety.
TADPOLES Prerequisite: Minnows certificate Skills to be worked on include: Water entry by stepping or jumping from the side, fully submerging and holding breath 5 sec., bobbing in chest-deep water 5 times, float in a face-down position 5 sec., front glide, back float, back glide, roll from front to back and back to front, treading 15 sec., combined arm and leg actions on front and back, and water safety.
PIRANHAS Prerequisite: Tadpoles certificate Skills to be worked on include: Water entry by jumping from side and headfirst entry, bobbing while moving toward safety 5 times, survival float 30 sec., back float 30 sec., changing direction and position while on front and back, treading water 30 sec., front crawl, elementary backstroke, scissors kick, and water safety.

Skills to be worked on include: Headfirst entry in compact/ stride position, swim underwater, feet first surface dive, survival swimming, front crawl open turn, backstroke open turn, tread water using two different kicks 2 min., front crawl 25 yds., breaststroke 15 yds., butterfly 15 yds., elementary backstroke, back crawl, sidestroke, and water safety.

WHALES Prerequisite: Sharks certificate Skills to be worked on include: Shallow-angle dive from the side, tuck surface dive, pike surface dive, front flip turn while swimming, backstroke flip turn while swimming, tread water 5 min., front crawl 50 yds., breaststroke 25 yds., butterfly 25 yds., elementary backstroke 50 yds., back crawl 25 yds., sculling 30 sec., sidestroke 25 yds., and water safety.

MOUNT HOREB SWIMMING LESSONS
Classes are held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings for 25-30 minutes each. Swim lesson start times will be 10:00a.m., 10:30a.m., 11:15a.m., and 11:45a.m. Evening swim lesson start times will be 6:15p.m. and 6:45p.m.

AREA COUNTY PARKS
TO RESERVE A SHELTER OR BALL FIELD:
STEWART PARK
1) Check availability online at www.mounthorebwi.info (under Departments/Services tab, then Park Shelter Information). There is a calendar at the bottom of this page. Using the arrow at the top right corner, choose which shelter you would like to view. Then using the down arrow on the top left of the calendar (by the title of the month), you can choose which month to look at. If a shelter is available, it will not have anything listed for that day; but if the shelter is reserved, it will say “busy.” You can click on the busy line and it will show you the time it is reserved for. Shelters are on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can call the Recreation Department with questions at 437-3400 x1.

2) Once availability is determined, you must stop in to the Recreation Department to fill out the reservation form and make payment. Reservation forms can be printed off from our website. Shelter fees are: Level 1 shelters without kitchenette (Boecks, Grundahl Open Picnic, and Waltz) $50R and $70NR. Level 2 shelters with kitchenette (Gundahl Enclosed, Liberty and Sunrise) $60R and $80NR. Ball field fees are $50 for single weekday use, $75 for single weekend use, and $125 for whole weekend use. 3) If your shelter requires a key, we will let you know when you can pick it up. Keys must be returned to the Recreation Department within two days of your rental.
