Gravity Hill
31
Village School House Museum
At Gravity Hill, your car, when stopped and shifted into neutral will begin rolling up-hill. It is caused by the large deposits of zinc and lead and ore in the ground or the empty hole underground where they were mined? Is it an optical illusion? To find out, drive south from Shullsburg on County Trunk U beyond the intersection with Rennick Road. Watch for traffic and if all is clear, stop at the bottom just before the road starts up the wooded hill-side and near the farm field gate on the right. Place your gear shift lever in neutral, release the brake, and guess which way you will travel. Please beware of traffic from either direction as you do this.

Pier Natural Bridge Park is located along Hwy. 80 North, at Rockbridge in Richland County. This narrow finger is topped by tall pines and covered with green shrubs. The West Branch of the Pine River meets with the Main Branch underneath this rock formation, which forms a Natural Bridge. https:// parkscommission.co.richland.wi.us/county-parks/ pier-natural-bridge-park/.

Olbrich Botanical Gardens
In the heart of Madison is a nonprofit-run veritable museum of flora with 16 acres of indoor and outdoor landscapes. Established in 1952, its a favorite spot for weddings and educational events, and its open year-round thanks to its 50-foothigh, glass-enclosed Bolz Conservatory, but the best time to be there is when the butterflies are in bloom in midsummer.

Check out the lakes
There are lakes everywhere in Wisconsin, but the Madison area is built on five lakes known as the Yahara chain, and each has its own personality. Chief among them is Lake Mendota, which is known for great boating in the summer and ice fishing in the winter. If you head to the University of Wisconsins student union, youll find great partying on the lakes edge, and if you head a mile west, you can reach a mile-long peninsula known as Picnic Point that is so skinny at the edge it will make you feel as if youre walking on the water. ding two water features.
