September 30, 2017 Ralph Virgil Markin, 59, of Richland Center passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 at his home in Richland Center. He was born November 16, 1957 in Boscobel the son of Virgil and Delora (Oler) Markin. After attending Riverdale High School Ralph joined the United States Army. Ralph has worked at MPC for the last 15 years. He was a lifelong mechanic, beginning when he was in middle school. Ralph is survived by three children: Cassiday (Seth Dusseau) Tamillo of Mukwonago, Krystal (James) Young of Albert Lea MN, Aaron Markin of Richland Center; four grandchildren: Cameron, Karleigh, Finn, Liam; four siblings: David (Elaine) Markin of Boscobel, Donn (Sharon) Markin of Richland Center, Charles Markin of Richland Center, Linda Markin of Salem Oregon, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother Marvin Markin, fiancé Vicky Hinkle, and niece Tammy Davidson. A celebration of life was held at the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 12:00 PM. Burial followed in

October 4, 2017 Melvin J. Johnson, 89, of Muscoda passed away after an accident on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. Mel was born on May 11, 1928 in Arena, the son of Alfred and Augusta (Jabs) Johnson. After graduating from the Avoca Highschool he immediately took over operations of the family farm. Melvin would marry Dorothy Mae Richards and they would share more than 50 years of marriage, until her death in 1999. During that time, he enjoyed being an over-theroad truck driver until retirement in 1995. In 2009 Melvin married Mary “Kay” Apel in Richland Center. Mel enjoyed a quiet country life with his wife in Muscoda. He was a lifelong farmer and a fixer of things. Mel devoted himself as a father and grandfather to Chad and Karla Bradley and their daughters Kelly and Cassie. Melvin is survived by his wife Kay; nephews and niece: Chad (Karla) Bradley, Randy (Cheri) Steven, Barbara (Ken) Nicks, Phillip Steven, Traci (Barbara) Johnson, Twana Johnson, John (Karen) Olson, Jim (Toni) Olson, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, brother John, sisters: Lillian, Lorna, and nephew Richie.
