On Dec 24th, 2015, Rita was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer. Since then, she has undergone 28 radiation treatments and many rounds of chemo. The cancer has been removed several times and it has returned several times. The last thing she was told, is that there was nothing more that the doctors could do and she would not make it to the end of the year. She told him to think of something! He found a trial drug called “Pembrolizumab”, but it costs $30,000 a treatment. She was declined by Insurance and hasn’t been approved for a Clinical Trial. Rita and Dave have found a Cancer Treament Center in Mexico with a high success rate! They have taken out a loan to cover the up front costs, but still need more to cover the treatments. Rita is not ready to stop trying, and neither are any of her friends or family members!
