Tough Talks are not easy, but they are necessary. This is monthly series to help learn how to work on many tasks that include legal issues, financial issues, health issues, mental health issues and emotional issues; sometimes all of those at once. Roger Reynolds grew up on a farm in Crawford County, WI and has lived in Southwestern Wisconsin most of his life. Roger lives with Civilian PTSD, depression and anxiety. He is a Mental Health Peer Leader and has participated in, designed and led peer-led Mental Health support groups and skills groups. Our first in the series will be: I Am Tired of the Pandemic. And It is not Over, Yet! Pandemics happen, but the last major one was 100 years ago. This pandemic has been confusing, scary, stressful, tiring, and more. Can you share an interesting story about Duke? Duke was surrendered to the Grant County Humane Society after a young couple could no longer care for him. He had been shipped near here from Missouri, and had very evident damage to his growth plates, probably from being in a small crate for an extended amount of time. As days went by things were NOT looking good for Duke, and since I work for the Lancaster Vet Clinic where he was being cared for, I knew I had to take him home, and just hope for the best. With good diet, exercise and LOTS of love, his legs are slowly healing, and he can RUN again, and play! His transformation and fight back is nothing I’ve ever seen!

COVID-19 has no doubt skewed post-retirement working statistics since the World Health Organization first declared a pandemic in March 2020, but a 2019 survey from the LIMRA Secure Retirement Institute found that 27 percent of pre-retirees with at least $100,000 in assets planned to work part-time in retirement. Even part-time work can provide enough daily structure to help retirees feel as though each day is not just a free-forall. • Make a concerted effort to be more social. Volunteering and working are not the only ways to create structure in retirement. A concerted effort to be more social can help retirees fill their days with interactions with like-minded individuals who may be experiencing the same feelings. Join a book club, a local nature group that goes on daily or semi-daily morning hikes or another local community organization. These are great ways to build structure and meet new people. There is no known single cause for Autism, but it is generally accepted that it is caused by differences in brain structure or function. Brain scans show differences in the shape and structure of the brain in people with Autism compared to in neurotypical development.
