It’s Aboutt
If your kegel exercises are not working anymore, it can make your life miserable. Let Dr. Alexander and the surgical team at The Richland Hospital, Inc. help you return to a life you love. It’s about you.
The Richland Hospital, Inc.
NAME OF BUSINESS: Schmitt Woodland Hills, Inc. Year established: We were established in 1962 as the Schmitt Methodist Home and have been in continuous operation since 1964. Tell us a little about your business: What do you do? We provide a broad range of services to the senior citizens and less-able citizens of Richland County and the surrounding areas. We also provide in-house and out-patient therapy, including speech occupational and physical therapy. How many “neighbors” do you employ? We currently employ 135The Crew at Schmitt Woodlan d Hills are always “Thinking 140. Local” Recognizing you can do business anywhere…why are you here? We are here in Richland Center because William Schmitt, a local cheese maker, who was a strong supporter of this community left a bequest to the United Methodist Church specifically to build a retirement home for Richland Center’s senior citizens. Some 55 years later we remain committed to Williams Schmitt’s mission of care for the senior citizens in our area. What’s the one thing you wish everyone knew about your business? The one thing we wish everyone knew was that even though we are a part of the Health and Welfare Ministry of the United Methodist Church of Wisconsin we are not here to just serve “rich” Methodists. We do not receive significant financial assistance from the Methodist Church. We are (c)(3) not-forprofit organization and we rely on our operating income and donations from a caring public to run our business. All denominations and beliefs are welcome here and we serve both Medicaid and private pay clients. What makes your business unique? Schmitt Woodland Hills offers the only continuum of care in the area. The continuum begins with our House Calls unit which provides in-home care to area seniors and less-abled citizens. We also provide 35 retirement apartments, a 30-bed assisted living facility and a 50-bed skilled nursing center. All of these facilities are local on a single site, right here in Richland Center. Other than providing jobs and paying taxes what are some other ways you give back to the community? A number of our employees are involved in many local organizations, including the Boy Scouts, 4-H, Lions Club, Kiwanis Club and the Rotary Club. We support Rotary Lights in the Park, the Alzheimer’s Walk and Giving Tuesday. We provide space on our campus for the Discovery Play School and Relax Massage Therapy. We also are home to the Town & Country Presbyterian Church, we host the Friendship Quilters Guilds annual show and provide space for the Viet Nam Veterans of America Chapter 7 blood drives. Being an active participant in our community is part of who we are. Parting thoughts….please share anything else you’d like our readers to know: Think Local is an important campaign. Expanded, the concept might be Think Local, Buy Local and Give Local. We should always think local first, buy local whenever we can and support our local community with our charitable donations. How to overcome workout fatigue
• Eat a balanced diet. during a workout and throughout the rest of the day are susceptible to fatigue. • Use proper form when exercising. Improper form can lead to injury and/or muscle fatigue. Men and women who cannot adhere to proper form when working out may need to reduce the amount of weight they’re lifting. As activities are performed using proper form, people may find they’re building muscle without growing fatigued. As workouts progress, weight can be added. • Give the body time to recover. Whether it’s more time between sets of repetitions or an extra day off between workouts, a fatigued body might just need more time to rest and recover. Aging men and women must recognize that they might not be capable of pushing themselves as hard as they once did and should adjust their workouts accordingly. Fatigue is a formidable foe for exercise enthusiasts. But such exhaustion can oftentimes be overcome with a few simple strategies.

ones that require the adherence to strict guidelines that are difficult to follow for lengthy periods of time. But exercise should not be abandoned in favor of a low-calorie diet. Dr. Yoni Freedhoff, who runs one of the largest obesity clinics in Canada, says that weight loss occurs from whatÕs created in the kitchen, but health is gained in the gym. Dr. Freedhoff often advises his clients to make smart changes to the foods they eat to spur weight loss, and then incorporate exercise into their lifestyles as a way to keep the body in top form. Regular physical exercise is necessary to maintain strong bones, build muscle, improve flexibility, and keep the cardiovascular system working efficiently. Exercise also releases endorphins, which can improve mental alertness and feelings of well-being.
The Mayo Clinic notes that studies have shown that people who lose weight and keep it off over the long haul are those who get regular physical activity. When it comes to losing weight, the foods a person eats play a bigger role than exercise. But it is the combination of both diet and exercise that can lead to greater overall health and sustained weight loss.
