As I begin a New Year as the Executive Director of the Platteville Regional Chamber, I must reflect on the happenings of the Wayne Wodarz previous year. I am often asked about the work load in this position, and when the down time happens. Honestly, there really is no down time here. Many of the projects and events we do take months to organize for them to materialize in the fashion we desire. Fortunately for me, I have a staff, the Chamber Board of Directors, various Committee Chairs, and volunteers to guide and assist with these projects. But it really does take a village! Even with this help, it is important to analyze, reflect, and plan ahead, chart a new course! This was another challenging year for many of our Chamber members as we navigated through post pandemic times. As you are aware, there are, and continue to be, workforce issues impacting many industries of our economy, as well as various supply chain issues making inventories slight and shelves bare for many of our retailers and supply providers. We were able to assist several businesses attain grants again this year to get them the help they needed to keep their businesses active. The Chamber planned a full slate of events to happen in 2021, and happen they did! Spring was quite busy as we delayed some of our February celebrations to May, making for a very robust schedule. And we facilitated many more activities throughout the remainder of the year, as many of them had been canceled the year before.
970 EAST MINERAL STREET PLATTEVILLE, WI 53818
Dairy Days and Southwest Music Festival were able to take place due to the collaboration of many to assist in the planning and organizing of these huge undertakings. Having these activities and events take place outside was a big benefit as we were able to safely provide our membership and the community the opportunities to gather and enjoy the outdoors. And both these events had great attendance as they were definitely missed by our community the year before. The Travel Wisconsin Welcome Center continued to highlight outdoor recreation as a cornerstone of our tourism promotions. We, like many others, received some grant money for tourism and utilized some of it to promote our community to our neighbors in Illinois and Iowa as well as promoting our outdoor recreation opportunities throughout our county and region. And numbers coming through our center were noticeably up. I am thankful for the partnerships and collaborations that have allowed our community to keep moving forward. Our network of friends include (in no particular order) staff from the City of Platteville, Platteville Main Street Program, Platteville Area Industrial Development Corporation, Grant County Tourism Council, Grant County Economic Development Corporation, Southwest Wisconsin Chamber Alliance, University of Wisconsin-Platteville, and the list goes on. It is amazing what can be done when you work together! As I Chart a New Course for 2022, I am excited about the opportunities that will present themselves to us, and look forward to seeing and working with many of you as we navigate through this year. Thanks to all who have supported our organization and our community. We have much to be proud of!

Start Thinking About Your Retirement Income Plan
Platteville
This article was written by Edward Jones for use by your local Edward Jones Financial Advisors, Ben Reeves and Alaina Reeves.
As you approach retirement, you'll want to explore ways of potentially boosting your income. Can you afford to delay taking Social Security so your monthly checks will be bigger? Can you increase your contributions to your 401(k) or similar employer-sponsored retirement plan, including taking advantage of catch-up contributions if you're age 50 or older? Should you consider adding products that provide you with an income stream that can potentially last your lifetime?
If you’re getting close to retirement, you’re probably thinking about the way your life will soon be changing. And one key transition involves your income Ben Reeves - instead of being able to count on a regular paycheck, as you've done for decades, Calculate your expenses. A financial professional can help you create a sustainable withdrawal rate based on your age, level of assets, family situation and other factors. By planning ahead, and making the right moves, you can boost your confidence in your ability to maintain enough income to last throughout your retirement. And with a sense of financial security, you'll be freer to enjoy an active lifestyle during your years as a retiree.

GRANT REGIONAL HEALTH CENTER
2021 Look Back – 2022 A Look Ahead Lancaster Submitted by Rochelle Williams, Marketing Director at Grant Regional Health Center, rwilliams@grantregional.com
Grant Regional Health Center is proud to offer the region a comprehensive array of medical and surgical services. We take great pride in providing high quality, compassionate, patientcentered care to Lancaster and our surrounding communities.
A look back at 2021 Almost two years in, Grant Regional continued its remarkable response to the Covid-19 pandemic including ongoing large volumes of testing, care and treatment of outpatient, inpatient and emergency patients in addition to implementing vaccination clinics. The past year has been a constant challenge to adjust to the ongoing changes that the pandemic presented. Also, in an effort to expand our capacity to care for patients in isolation, we added enhanced ventilation capabilities to the Med/Surg unit that would allow us to care for illnesses related to Covid-19. Grant Regional welcomed Dr. Thomas Benda, Otolaryngology/ENT services in March. We’re proud to bring local ENT services that include prevention, diagnosis, and treatment (including surgical) of children and adults suffering from: Hearing loss, Dizziness, Sinus disease, Nasal Polyps, Inhalant allergies, Food allergies, Hives, Frequent respiratory illnesses, Head and neck cancers, Ear infections, Nasal obstruction, and Voice and Swallowing Disorders. Thank You

You have heard that they nailed Him, but more importantly, did you know that He nailed something that day? That being, all of our trespasses! “... having forgiven you all trespasses; blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.” (Colosians 2:13-14)

Tax Time Advance Child Tax Credit
Advance child tax credit payments letter can help people get remainder of 2021 credit To help taxpayers reconcile and receive all the 2021 child tax credits to which they are entitled, the IRS started sending Letter 6419, 2021 advance CTC, in late December 2021 and will continue into January. This letter includes the total amount of advance child tax credit payments taxpayers received in 2021 and the number of qualifying children used to calculate the advance payments. People should keep this and any other IRS letters about advance child tax credit payments with their tax records. Families who received advance payments need to file a 2021 tax return and compare the advance payments they received in 2021 with the amount of the child tax credit they can properly claim on their 2021 tax return. The letter contains important information that can make preparing their tax returns easier. People who received the advance payments can also check the amount of their payments by using the CTC Update Portal available on IRS.gov. Eligible families who did not receive any advance child tax credit payments can claim the full amount of the child tax credit on their 2021 federal tax return. This includes families who don’t normally need to file a tax return. www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-tax-tips
