Think Local!
NAME OF BUSINESS: Archie Monument of Richland County Year established: 1865 (Wisconsin), 2016 (Richland County) Tell us a little about your business: What do you do? We provide memorials to families who have lost a loved one. We also provide pre-need memorials to families who are planning ahead. How many “neighbors” do you employ? We currently employ 2, Jim Jewell and Jean Lisney. Recognizing you can do business anywhere…. why are you here? ? Because the citizens of Richland Center and surrounding communities are made up of honest, hardworking and kind people they deserve to have a LOCAL monument company that can provide them with quality products at an affordable price. We just can’t imagine being located anywhere else! What is one thing you wish everyone knew Jean Lisney and Jim Jewell always “Thinking Local” about your business? Many families are unaware that they can plan their family monuments in advance and save their loved ones from having to undertake such an important decision while they are grieving the loss of a loved one. Planning ahead is a wonderful gift to your family. Another misconception is how long it takes to make a monument. I wish I could get families to order their monuments in the winter months so they can be placed early in the Spring. What makes your business unique? 1) The owner since 1972, Wayne Sormrud, was raised in the Hillsboro/Yuba area. He understands the needs and economics of a small town. 2) We offer hand/color etching on three colors of granite. 3) We keep a large inventory which allows us to get most monuments in the cemetery within ninety days. Other than providing jobs and paying taxes what are some other ways your give back to the community? Veterans groups use our parking lot for fundraisers. Archie Monuments is open to having other groups of organizations have a fundraiser in our parking lot. We support are charities through donations and advertising in our store. Parting thoughts…. please share anything else you’d like our readers to know. We also provide Veterans memorials, garden/lawn statuary, signage, fountains, angels and vases. Address: 185 N. Main Street, Richland Center Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5:30 Saturday 9am-12pm Phone: (608) 649-6619 E-mail: jlisney@mwt.net Tune into WRCO this Wednesday during the news at noon and listen in as they interview the folks at Archie Monument of Richland County. Blue Bird Helping Hands Fall is a time when all bird houses are checked and opened for the winter. This is done to clean out the hornet nests and left over nests from the birds. Leaving the door open will keep sparrows and mice from wintering. In the Spring, about March 15th close the doors and get ready for the Blue Birds to return. Some people plug the holes. This is fine if you take the plug out in mid March. If you would like a Blue Bird house or have questions about Blue Birding, Lynne Speigle will give answering your questions her best effort. 608-469-4161. You can contact David at davidspeigle@yahoo.com. English Sparrows are not protected and it is highly recommended to remove these nests and dispose of all eggs. If your nest location attracts Wrens, it is recommended you move the house to a more open area. Blue Birding is fun and they need HELPING HANDS.

About a year and a half ago, Joanne Amell began having problems with her knee, including severe pain and the inability to walk without a cane. “You could probably hear the bones grinding when I walked,” Joanne said. Joanne began exploring pain management options with Dr. Thomas Beck, Richland Hospital Orthopedic Surgeon, who later determined she needed a knee replacement. After working with therapy post-surgery, Joanne returned to work 8 days later! “I had no problems at all, my knee healed perfectly. This surgery hardly interrupted my life!” To learn more about knee replacement surgery & view our free PDF printable, visit our website at richlandhospital.com/ services/surgery/orthopedics/ The Richland Hospital, Inc. | 608 647-6321 | richlandhospital.com Affiliates: Muscoda Health Center & Spring Green Medical Center

Stop by Wolf Wheels and see our current inventory! Our dealership’s goal is to bring you southern trucks, vans & cars in exceptional condition at affordable prices. Vehicles from the South have not been exposed to the salt and therefore have little to no rust damage. Although we typically stock vehicles from ‘03 to ‘09, we sometimes find older ones and can get newer ones by request. Many of the ones we find are just 1 or 2 owner vehicles - well cared for. We try to find the really clean ones - inside, outside and underneath.

Kristin’s previous body shop experience as an automotive refinish technician is a real plus in selecting vehicles. We do not purchase any formerly salvaged, wrecked, or flood damaged vehicles. We do appreciate Consumer Reports unbiased reviews and try to keep in mind their higher rated used vehicle listings as we purchase units for our lot. All vehicles are inspected in the shop and include a warranty. Bringing these vehicles from the South - KS, MO, OK - incurs a little extra shipping cost. Although ours may be a little more than average vehicles in the area we feel the cost is well worth it and offset by fewer maintenance and repair expenses. However, most are still priced at or below NADA book value! We’re here to help you find a nice vehicle - without rust - in your price range. No pressure involved! Additional picture views are available upon request. If we don’t have what you are looking for, we can find it!! You won’t find us online but feel free to call or stop by and see the difference!
