Archetypes have the power to reach back in time, to trigger memory and recall stories and feelings which are universal.
Archetypes are familiar and grounding, simple and resonant.
Archetypes can remind us of how we are connected and that which we all share.
Platinum’s Archetype Collection celebrates timeless forms and motifs, drawing from art, decorative history, and classic textile techniques.
The soft and natural palette of prints, velvets, wovens and embroideries are designed to layer together to create interiors alive with charm, comfort, and enduring style.
Stone Age
Various trend names have popped up in the past year including: Paleo Chic, The Stone Age and Prehistoric Modern. We have seen this in a return to rounded, monolithic, and sculptural furniture. Rounded arches reminiscent of cave dwellings, raw stone, earth tones and abstracted hieroglyphic shapes are all further examples of the trend.
The key to the trend is the absence of interference of the human hand. Nature takes its course, allowing for imperfection. Shapes are billowing and featureless in a celebration of organic abstraction.
Soft woven textures in soft neutrals are the foundational layer for this season.

Abstract
An extension of the Stone Age trend, the return of loose and abstract forms in interiors is seen everywhere.

Inspired by the modern collages of Sophie Tauber-Arp and the paper cut outs of Matisse, Bruno is a carefree design with some serious art history credentials.

Helios pattern
Watercolor painting brings to mind the serenity of patterns in nature: clouds floating in reflection on a rippled surface, sun bouncing and refracting through the fog, the blurred and atmospheric view of distant vistas. Pheasants are a recurrent symbol in Far Eastern art. In historic Chinese painting, pheasants represented beauty in the home. In Japanese art, pheasants are often depicted among foliage and often stood in as symbols of power, abundance and promise.

Corinthian pattern
There are few decorative motifs as ancient as the Greek Key. Variations on this design can be found on Ancient Egyptian tombs and Pre-Columbian carvings, as well as in the Greek mosaics which lent the motif its name.
