The parade will be held on Saturday, December 1st, in Tooele, beginning at 10:00 am. n September 28th , the concession stand at the Grantsville High School football field celebrated its grand opening. I would like to thank all those who attended. I would like to give a special thank you the Tooele Chamber of Commerce, Steve West, and all those that helped me along the way. It was a long, arduous project. I started by calling

Secondary Ed. Director, Daniel Johnson. He was instrumental in this project being completed. The Tooele County Rec Board helped by donating $50,000, which made the concession stand possible. I hope the Grantsville community enjoys the concession stand for many years to come.

Tooele Valley Academy of Dance Heritage Homes and Fireplaces

E

arlier this month, the Tooele Valley Academy of Dance (formally Pankratz Academy of Dance) celebrated their grand re-opening and name change with a ribbon cutting and open house. Those in attendance were members of the Tooele Chamber of Commerce, principle Academy dancers and Academy Board Members Carri Lyda (President), Steffanee Wanlass (Vice President), Tracie Sneed (treasurer) and Sarah Westhora, Ballet Director. Kim Kienow also serves on the board as Secretary. The Academy first opened its doors on August 15th, 2009. Since then, over 300 youth have benefited from professional dance instruction and performance opportunities. Recognizing that the cost involved with quality instruction is often a significant barrier for many dancers, the Academy, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, affords professional dance education to students of all financial backgrounds, providing tuition scholarships each year to families that otherwise would not be able to afford the costs involved with dance. Youth, boys and girls alike, are given the chance to find a passion for dance, all the while being taught self-discipline, self-respect, responsibility, punctuality, and professionalism through the framework of dance instruction. Based upon a comprehensive ballet syllabus, the curriculum taught at the Academy provides a solid foundation in technique, poise, strength, rhythm and expression. Although ballet is the primary

focus at Tooele Valley Academy of Dance, tap and ballroom classes are also offered. Formerly the Pankratz Academy of Dance, the academy changed its name this past spring to better reflect its mission of furthering the performing arts in Tooele City and enriching the Valley’s cultural identity by cultivating local artistic resources in producing elegant works of art. Tooele Valley Academy of Dance is known for presenting high-caliber performance opportunities to its student body and the community at large. The cost of producing such a performance runs between $5,000$10,000, the greatest portion of which is spent on costumes, props, auditorium rental, backdrops and scenery. The Academy plans to continue to stage classical ballet performances each winter and spring, preserving what was first introduced 500 years ago in Italy and France. Performances in the past have included Nutcracker, Giselle, Cinderella and Swan Lake. This December, the Academy is introducing a brand new ballet based upon Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol and this Spring the Academy will stage the ballet Sleeping Beauty. Please come and support the Tooele Valley Academy of Dance at their upcoming performance December 10th at Tooele High School and December 17th at Grantsville High School. Cost of admission is $15 per family or $5 per individual. Tickets will be sold at the door and are also available online at the Academy website: tvadance.org

available for individual use for any patron that is at least twenty-one years of age. The All Star Sports Club and Dining facility offers a full range menu presented by our Chef, Kelly Darr. The extensive food far surpasses the standard cuisine of what most consider to be bowling center food. Chef Kelly offers entrees such as country fried steak, salmon, fresh wraps, toasted subs and sandwiches, gourmet pizzas, as well as numerous types of appetizers. The kitchen’s signature menu-item is All Star’s slow cooked tri-tip which can be enjoyed as an entree, sandwich, and on even on pizza. The deep-fried cheesecake is a delicious delicacy that would be great in ending any event or party. The All Star Team invites the community to come out for our ribbon cutting and Open House which will include free samples of our menu as well as a tour and viewing party inside the private lanes on November 15, 2012 at 4 p.m.
