Serengeti is undoubtedly the best known wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequalled for its natural beauty and scientific value. With more than 2.8 million wildebeest, 1.5 million Thomson's gazelle and 1.5 million zebra’s, it has the greatest concentration of game in Africa. The wildebeest and zebra moreover form the star cast of a unique and spectacular event - the annual Serengeti migration from the months following May to December. ( The migration is spread across Kenya and Tanzania however remains in Tanzania from November to August and covers roughly 880km)

Flamingos on the shores of Lake Manyara •

Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara, the home to a diverse set of landscapes and wildlife. Mostly known for the baboons, Lake Manyara is also the home to herbivores such as hippos, impalas, elephants, wildebeests, buffalo, warthogs and giraffes. If you enjoy bird watching this area has over 340 different species of birds including flamingo, long -crested eagle and the grey –headed Kingfisher.

Points to note: The great migration is considered the longest and greatest migration which takes place every year. The 800 kilometer trek begins suddenly in late May or early June when millions of wildebeest, Zebra and Thomson’s gazelle move away from the short grass plains between the Ngorongoro Highlands and Seronera and head towards the north and west in search of water and fresh grass. In their wake follow predators hungry for an easy kill such as lion, cheetah, hyena and hunting dogs. This process ensures that only the fittest of herbivores survive.
