Holy Spirit shares joy, goodwill and hope with 116 pupils with special needs and inspires them, their parents and teachers to do best On December 15, 2016, RC Holy Spirit shared the 2016 Christmas celebration of the pupils, teachers and parents of the SPED Center of Dona Juana Elementary School at the school’s covered court. The Christmas program had a theme “Magmahalan ng may Kasiyahan”. The pupils had the opportunity to display their talents in singing and dancing, dressed in Christmas costumes or party clothes. School principal Dr Alarico L Ramos and Master Teacher Gloria C Tatad were profuse with thanks to RC Holy Spirit for loving the children through the years. RCHS spent time and effort to bring the toys specially wished for by the 116 pupils of the SPED Center. Rotaractor Rona Iglesias entertained everyone with her song rendition. ASP Peth Rivera delivered a short message, stressing the importance of spreading love not only during the Christmas season but throughout the year. Assisting Pres Peth in distributing the toys to the children were PP Marcia Salvador, PP Marites Nepomuceno, PP Beth Sy, Chair Ric Salvador, Rtn Jerry Sy and Rtn Caroline Vargas. Despite her hectic schedule, IPP Angel Castro also came to personally convey her holiday wishes to the children and the teachers.
Special food packs were prepared by the teachers and parents for the children and guests. The Christmas celebration is one of four “programmed events” that have already become regular parts of the Center’s calendar with RC Holy Spirit involvement: • Celebration of New Rotary year every July 1st • National Awareness & Disability Prevention Week • Christmas celebration, and • Recognition Day. In a programmed event, the students, their parents and teachers usually develop the event theme, prepare decor, attire and set-up that best convey the theme, and define the activities in the agenda. They also suggest how Rotary may add value to the celebration. The SPED Center is also beneficiary of a donation from the family of PP Marites Nepomuceno that enabled the development of an equipped facility that now serves as laboratory for the learning of social and basic household skills.
PP Marcia posed with the 6 SPED teachers whom Principal Dr Ramos himself have referred to a “Voltes V + 1” for their dedication, patience and abilities to help the pupils effectively learn

Special Christmas treat for malnourished children participating in the 100-day Milk Feeding and Nutrition Program of Holy Spirit Last December 16, 2016, the fifty (50) malnourished Grade I pupils of Dona Juana Elementary School participating in the club’s 6th annual 100-day Milk Feeding & Nutrition Program were treated to a special snack of spaghetti that went with their nutritious chocolate-flavored fresh carabao’s milk. Also, they were each given packs of goodies as Christmas tokens, after which they were given their daily dose of multi-vitamins. ASP Peth Rivera, assisted by PP Beth Sy, PP Marcia Salvador, Rtn Jerry Sy and the feeding teachers led by Ms Lorna Corre and some parents, distributed the spa-
ghetti packs and Christmas goodies to the children. Also assisting were Pres Peth’s granddaughter Poysie and PP Marcia’s young guests Zaden and Joie, two balikbayan kids from California. Helping save less fortunate children from the risk of malnutrition would be a memorable learning for these three future Rotarians. This year’s Milk Feeding and Nutrition Program was started on September 19, 2016 with the invaluable support of Mr Park’s Bread and Cakes, Quezon City Realty Board, Honorary Member PDG Robert Kuan, Peace President Morris Agoncillo of RC Loyola Heights, and club members.

A sneak peek at the Web refresh By Rotary Staff Posted on December 13, 2016
In January, visitors to Rotary.org will discover a new, contemporary site that tells Rotary’s story in a fresh and exciting way. It’s the first step in a two-part process to refresh our entire website: first the public site, Rotary.org, and then My Rotary. Some of the changes will be obvious: a modern design, increased use of imagery and graphics to tell our stories, and better organization of content to help readers find out who we are and what we’re doing. Others, like the improved speed of the site, will be a welcome surprise. We believe these changes will more clearly show that Rotary is making the world a better place — and will persuade potential members and donors to support our work by joining a club, volunteering on a project, or donating to a cause. Visit Rotary.org in January to see all the improvements we’ve made.

Principles that Guide Rotary
SERVICE ABOVE SELF The Object of Rotary
The Four-Way Test
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
Of the things we think, say or do
FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service; SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society; THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life; FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace
through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
Rotarian Code of Conduct As a Rotarian, I will 1) Act with integrity and high ethical standards in my personal and professional life 2) Deal fairly with others and treat them and their occupations with respect 3) Use my professional skills through Rotary to mentor young people, help those with special needs, and improve people’s quality of life in my community and in the world 4) Avoid behaviour that reflects adversely on Rotary or other Rotarians
1) Is it the TRUTH? 2) Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3) Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4) Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
Rotarian’s Pledge I am a Rotarian I will always uphold the TRUTH. I am a Rotarian I will always strive to be FAIR in all of my dealings with my fellowmen. I am a Rotarian I will always endeavor to build GOODWILL and UNDERSTANDING in my community, among my countrymen and people of all nations. I am a Rotarian I will always seek to promote the greatest good for the greatest number of people in the spirit of ROTARY SERVICE. I am a Rotarian I will always uphold the Rotary International Motto, SERVICE ABOVE SELF.
