2013 ENGLISH
Stromer is freedom The zest for life that the Stromer has imparted to people within Europe and the USA has also has also had the same effect on Andy Rihs, owner of the BMC Switzerland Group. Since the end of 2011, Stromer has belonged to the BMC Switzerland Group. The visionary founder of Stromer, Thomas Binggeli, has been managing the BMC Switzerland Group as a partner and CEO since then. “I can‘t describe a ride with the Stromer, you have to experience it”, says Thomas Binggeli. The Stromer has been setting standards for electric bikes for three years – integration, function, performance and style have not yet been matched – it is a test winner and enthusiastic Stromer riders all confirm that we are on the right path. In the fourth year, the Stromer will undergo a facelift – the first fruits of the collaboration with the BMC engineers. Carbon technology is being used increasingly, our own components are being developed and the geometry is being revised – everything with an eye on even more riding enjoyment, simpler handling and more complete integration – away from the typical electric bike and toward the Stromer. Synergies in sales and production are being created: internationalization is being promoted and new markets tapped. Carefully selected and trained dealers and distributors will spread the “Stromer feeling” and people around the world will be given the opportunity to move quickly, ecologically and freely. Our vision continues – our Swiss development team is working on the next Stromer for the future – because the Swiss don‘t build cars! Yours truly,
Thomas Binggeli, BMC Switzerland partner
Christian Müller, CEO of Stromer

Power system The Stromer is powered by the rider and a brushless direct-current motor in the rear hub. A high degree of system efficiency can be achieved because the motor acts directly within the rear hub. The only mechanical contact that occurs within the motor is the industrial ball bearings. The motor is virtualy maintenance free. The Stromer motor is available in three versions

FAQ Interface
Speedometer 3
Interface between rider and Stromer. The on-board instruments.
The Stromer interface shows the following ride information: Speed, average speed, trip distance, total distance, trip time and time of day.
Mode 4 The support mode can be selected from four different output modes. In addition, the Stromer has a boost mode (riding mode without pedaling support) and push assistance.
Setup Buttons 1 All Stromer functions can be easily enabled by using just three buttons.
Using defined codes, Stromer users can fine tune their own optimal settings. Using a USB interface, performance parameters are tuned in the myStromer Service Center.
Energy display 2 The Stromer interface shows the battery charge level, the current consumption and the rate of regenerative braking.
Energy consumption During an average Stromer ride, the Stromer’s energy consumption is less than 1 kWh/100 km and is therefore very cost-effective.
Prices
Battery
Pricing is modular. The components selected determine the basic price. Options and accessories are added. Ergonomics, frame and power system do not affect the price.
High-tech lithium-ion battery pack. 522 Wh (14.5 Ah; 36 V) or 396 Wh (11 Ah; 36 V). With an integrated battery management system for optimized battery lifecycle. Integrated into the down tube, the battery is removed in just a few steps. Battery can be directly charged on-board the Stromer or off-board Battery can be released in seconds at the press of a button.
Helmet In certain countries, it is mandatory to wear a protective helmet. Information is available from the respective Department of Motor Vehicles or from any Stromer dealer.
Light Securely fastened lights are prescribed for E:Bikes. The standards differ in terms of details from country to country, but the Stromer is always delivered with lights that comply with the prevailing national standards. If the Stromer is equipped with our battery powered lights, the light still functions, even if there is no longer enough power in the battery to run the motor.
Moped As of 25 km/h (motors Mountain33 and Power48), the Stromer is classified as a moped in the class L1e (2002/24/EC). In most countries, there are thus stricter standards for the registration. For example: license plate, insurance, corresponding lights, rearview mirror. The Stromer is always delivered compatible with registration for the respective country. In most countries, mopeds can also be used on bike paths. If mopeds are prohibited, you can only ride them with the motor switched off. Additional information is available from the respective Department of Motor Vehicles or from the Stromer dealer.
Battery charging time The 396 Wh battery is fully charged in 3 hours. The 522 Wh battery is fully charged in 4 hours.
Charger The “fuel station for the Stromer. The battery can be charged directly at the bike or separately from the E:Bike.
Torque sensor Determines the power of the rider and controls the motor power. Can be individually set using the interface.
Brake sensor Interrupts motor power during brake application, the motor switches to generator mode (recuperation) and recharges the battery.
Recuperation The energy created by the brake application is fed back into the battery. The braking energy is once again turned into drive energy.

Solar Impulse Around the world in a Solar Airplane In 2013 the two pioneers, the long-time Swiss Air Force pilot André Borschberg and the psychiatrist and aerospace adventurer Bertrand Piccard, will circle the world in a solar airplane. A revolutionary airplane that flies without fossil fuels, solely with the power of the sun.
Solar Impulse is betting on Stromer The Stromer modular E:Bike is one of the accompanying vehicles on the runway during the takeoff and landing of the Solar Impulse (HB-SIA). In the takeoff phase, the wings of the super-light solar airplane will be held horizontal by an escort on the Stromer. The airplane must not be allowed to tilt. While the escort on the Stromer holds the wing of the HB-SIA steady with one hand, the Solar Impulse achieves its flight stability with increasing speed. During the landing maneuver, the escort on the Stromer accelerates to over 60 km/h to reach the wing of the airplane in the end phase of the approach for landing and to stabilize it.
Stromer learns from the Solar Impulse The pioneers from Solar Impulse have gotten it into their heads to make the impossible possible in the style of Jules Verne: “All that is impossible remains to be achieved!” The Stromer modular E:Bike is our contribution to the world of tomorrow, an E:Bike without pollutant emissions. This is our vision, silent transport. With the Stromer from one point to the next. With the Solar Impulse from one continent to the next.
