Project of the Month

Project of the Month The latest Project of the Month was submitted by Dean Petrulakis for his work with Loyola University Chicago and the residence life department. The project was The Move In Manual. The Move In Manual is an extremely useful and one-of-a kind piece. Loyola University Chicago has partnered with Rider Dickerson the past 7 years to create a personalized instructional piece to help make the move in experience easy and enjoyable for students and their parents. When creating this piece functionality, personalization, and size were the main points taken into consideration. Knowing that moving into college especially for the first time) can be extremely stressful, the idea was to create a fun piece that held all of the information students would need rather than a bunch of loose papers that could easily get misplaced. Every Move in Manual is completely personalized to each individual student; dorm information, parent parking pass for move in day, personalized map, email, roommates, address, meal plan. The Move in Manual is a stand-out piece that fits in your pocket! Our friends from Loyola University agree that the Move in Manual is a fantastic piece that has added tremendous value to the entire move in process. Clair McDonald, Assistant Director of Residence Life at Loyola University Chicago had this to say about the Move-In Manual: “The Move-In Manual was a central piece to the success of this year’s Move-In. Moving in over 4,300 students in just a few days is a huge logistical undertaking, and clear communication to students and their families is critical. Having this personalized manual gives students an “all-in-one” resource that answers each of their questions about Move-In. There is no extraneous information about other buildings or dates – only the information relevant to each student. Students and their families told staff throughout Move-In that the manual was so helpful. We were so grateful for the success of this project and are already looking forward to planning next year’s manual!”

The Move in Manual was printed on our HP Indigo 7500 Digital Press. When designing the piece the parents were also kept in mind. Located inside the piece was a special perforated page that tears out for parents to take with them and have all the important information such as the student’s address, email, meal plan, roommate, etc. It’s no surprise that after a few years of using and perfecting the Move in Manual, that this award winning piece is a staple at Loyola University. This piece has had a huge impact on the move in process at Loyola!
