(Above) Social Distancing in Ballard Park (Sold) This piece captures the park at one of its most beautiful times, during the Cherry Blossom season.
(Left) Summer Night Stroll The beauty and excitement of the city after a summer rainfall. The city lights reflect off the street and create a myriad of colors and shadows.
Istudy the impact of color, light, reflection and shadow as integral parts of the scene. I use color and light to define the interplay of forms. My painting begins with a tinted canvas onto which I build light as well as dark. I draw with the paint. My primary concern is to balance the abstract elements of color and composition before I focus on the details which make the forms recognizable. My work is a loose realism with a touch of impressionism. I have always been intrigued by Manet’s use of dark and shadows to accentuate the light and the forms.
I have been painting for over 40 years. My business travels took me to 37 countries around the world where I experienced variations in art, design and form. I have enjoyed exhibiting in SOHO, Brooklyn, Canterbury England, as well as locally in Connecticut.
