A little look at musicals

Show business is like sex. When it's wonderful, it's wonderful. But when it isn't very good, it's still all right. – Max Wall.

“There’s no business like show business.”

the hills are alive… “The sound of music appeals to me because of its beautiful scenery, its clever musical composition and the fact that it feels real, it connects to any human as an extremely comprehendible life.”

The hills fill my heart… “I love the setting, on holiday we visited Saltzburg and I felt that the essence of the Alpine region really comes through in the musical. The music is magical and the storyline is genuine.”

“The themes dealt with can be very close to home, very touching and the idea that money can never stand in the way of family issues and social unrest is very real and also strangely uncomfortable. Passionate and understated, it tugs on the heartstrings and we almost forget that it is fictional.”

Every morning you greet me‌!

Eidelweiss!

double crossing transsexual aliens with God like abilities of creating life.

Amazing, I love it. So fictional its unreal - aliens, trannies, virgins and murder! The aesthetic of the film is very seventies, almost tacky, but such a classic because of it and it’s really inclusive for the audience and the songs are brilliant fun.

Oklahoma!

Where the wind comes sweeping down the plain‌

“Oklahoma! is gorgeous, I love its atmosphere, its music, the romance and of course the western-ness of it all. I am intrigued by the history of America, I studied it at school, and visualising things like the ranch’s and the plains, its exactly what I see in Oklahoma!”

“there’s a bright golden haze on the meadow”

“we know we belong to the land, and the land we belong to is grand!”

“Everynight my honey lamb and I, sit alone and talk and watch a hawk making lazy circles in the sky

I find Sweeney Todd so weird because the characters are so compelling but they are raving mad murderers! So it’s a bit controversial in that respect. It feels light hearted in parts but heavy in others, it has just the right balance of humour and macabre, its sinister and funny at the same time, brilliant!

“These are desperate times Mrs. Lovett, and Desperate times calls for desperate measures

Its got groove, its got meaning;

The power youre supplyin’, its electrifyin! Grease is timelesS, it was awesome in ‘78 and its stilL awesome in 2011. The frivolity and inNocence of adolescence atTracts people because everyone can conNect to it. Its like real life on steroids.

I cant, I’m Sandra Dee.!
