The Function

The System Components

Expansion joints and construction joints are sealed by increasing the path of water penetration. The Sikadur ®-Combiflex®Adhesive is fully bonded to the substrate as well as to the Sikadur®-Combiflex®Strip.

Sikadur® Adhesives To achieve a watertight, durable connection between the Sikadur®-Combiflex®Strip and the substrate, the following 2-component, epoxy-based Sikadur® adhesives are used:

Connection between concreting steps Floor-to-wall connections Wall-to-wall etc. connections Inside or outside application Different material connections

Sikadur® Strips Weldable, no need for prefabricated sections Outstanding elasticity High durability and chemical resistance Root resistant

Sikadur®-Combiflex®-Adhesive Optimum workability and finish Provides smooth surface

Sikadur -Combiflex Application

Special Solutions

1

Against Water Pressure

2

Substrate preparation by means of sand blasting, grinding etc., followed by vacuuming

Activate the Sikadur®Combiflex®-Strip on the upper and lower side with a clean cloth and Colma®-Cleaner

6

Remove masking tapes

The Sikadur®-Combiflex®-Strip shows the so-called «plastic flow» under constant high water pressure. In order to overcome possible «bumps», the Sikadur®-Combiflex®-Strip is supported by mechanical means (see picture, negative water pressure) or by a sealant in the joint (positive pressure).

7

Place activated Sikadur®Combiflex®-Strip in position and roll Sikadur®Combiflex®-Strip to exclude air through the special perforations until adhesive comes through

Use masking tape to cover the joint

8

Apply Sikadur Combiflex®-Adhesive on the strip

Against mechanical Influences ®

Steel cover plate

Sikaflex® joint sealant

®

The Sikadur -Combiflex -System could be mechanically destroyed for instance from the dirt collector in waste water treatment plants. To protect it from this influence, the system may be applied in a recess.

Resin flooring, e.g. Sikafloor®-325 Sikadur®-31or Sikadur®-42 (depending on depth of recess)

Sikaflex® PRO-3WF Sikadur®-Combiflex®-System

PE separation foil Sika backer rod Joint filler Graph: Against mechanical damage

4

Mix Sikadur®-Combiflex®Adhesive components A and B for a minimum of 3 minutes until the mix is homogeneous

9

Remove masking tapes from the joint sides as well as the red middle strip from the Sikadur®-Combiflex®Strip

The Sikadur®-Combiflex®-System provides a hygienic connection between floor and wall in the food industry. To further protect it against the influences of traffic, it should be applied in combination with a guard rail.

Sikagard® coating

e.g. Sikaflex® PRO-3WF e.g. Sikadur®-31 Resin flooring modified, e.g. with glass fabric Resin flooring, e.g. Sikafloor®-261

5

Apply Sikadur®-Combiflex®10 Adhesive on the left-hand and the right-hand side of the joint

Overlap strip connections 3 cm in minimum, apply Colma®Cleaner or Hypalon-solvant, weld by means of hot air

Example: Floor-to-wall movement joints in industrial flooring

During the time of construction, the Sikadur®-Combiflex®System could be mechanically hurt from other workers. It is strongly recommended to protect especially the Sikadur®Combiflex®-Strip, for instance by means of strips made out of rubber mats.
