Project was an attempt at tackling fashion’s issue with sustainability

Photography of my denim outfit, edited in photoshop.

I experimented a lot with photoshop, not only to create my final photos, but also playing with different colours and textures to create various effects.

Using photoshop to enhance and edit photos that I took of myself modelling my garments

Experimental

drawings, playing with line and colour to create these watercolour designs.

Page 1 was inspired by maximalism.

Page 2 was inspired by the flow of water.

I wanted to create some fabrics that could represent how the earth is dying, inspired by the heat waves over summer that turned grass yellow. To represent the fading beauty of the earth I spilled brown, yellow, and grey inks over my fabric.

Playing with watercolour to try and replicate the bacteria

Investigating how I can combine biology with pattern and textiles by using colour, shape, and texture from petri dish examples of bacteria. I cut out petri dish pictures and created designs using the cut outs.

More watercolour experimentation with wool

After researching bacteria and petri dish art, I attempted to make my own patterns using the bacteria as inspiration. I made my own batik designs as well as 6 watercolour patterns which I could then enlarge to make my own textiles.

Artist research for my next project.

Researching how watercolour can be used with plaster to create different effects.

Generating possible ideas for my project.

Explored how fabric can be manipulated to portray suffocation and claustrophobia.

To represent this idea I draped modrok over different objects and investigated the folds the modrok made and what it could portray.

Continuing with my idea of the portrayal of suffocation through fabric, I casted a plaster block to be able to then use watercolour on plaster in my investigation.

From my artist research I found that using watercolour on plaster gave a more explosive effect than watercolour on paper, which I thought could enhance my art and make more of an impact.

My final piece explored how mass consumption can often lead to us feeling unappreciative of what we have, and can make us feel trapped in a cycle of constantly buying things. The modrok used in the piece represented the build up of buying clothes which can make us feel suffocated.

Bettering my watercolour technique before working on my next piece.

New project exploring how woman may feel trapped with the need to conform to beauty standards and constant trends.

I took the photos of a classmate with hands covering her face to help portray the feeling of being trapped and out of control, and drew it on a plaster block.

I splashed on pink watercolour to add the claustrophobic feel of beauty standards, and started to paint the subject in layers.

Final piece using watercolour, plaster, and modrok to portray feeling trapped by beauty standards and societal expectations placed on women. Used carving tools to make highlights in the face and hair.

Collages, paintings, and gelli printing of some ‘forgotten objects’ from my bag.

Inspired by picasso style paintings, I wanted to paint outfits based on colour and shape in a quick and free manner.

Using watercolour, I painted abstract people with colourful clothes on to explore colour schemes and patterns.

Figure drawing sketches with graphite

Graphite and coloured pencil piece on masking emotions and putting on different personalities.

Experimenting with colour and skin tones in portraiture.

Developing my acrylic painting skills and portraying emotion in facial expressions.

Further developing my portraiture and acrylic painting skills. I decided to leave a halo like light around the face to separate the background colour with the subject and therefore exemplify their face and hair.

I made 3 experimental weaves to explore how colour and texture can work together.

Focusing on how I can make experimental garments while being sustainable.

Corset top made from plastic wrappers and ribbon.

Pleated skirt made out of newspaper and card.

Planning pages for a project on reconnecting with my inner child through fashion.

Started out by researching my baby clothes as well as childhood clothes to find a theme in colour and patterns that I wore.

My goal was to replicate these clothes in a modernised outfit

Batiking swatches, making messy childlike designs to reconnect with my inner child. Exploring how different colours work together and how wax can be used to create negative space

Came up with a colour scheme that I thought reflected my childhood and best reminded me of my inner child.

Created playful designs based off of old photos to start brainstorming ideas.

Corset top and wide leg bottle green polyester trousers.

Styled with black heels and sunglasses, and photographed by me.

Wanted to make a chic runway outfit that fit the current trends.

Images of my 2 piece set modeled at the school runway

The fashion show was an event to raise money and awareness for the war in Ukraine.

Finding my style in fashion making, fashion imaging, and fashion modelling.

Experimented with colour and gradients to add personality to my photos.
