Residential Villa Interior Design

Client: Dr. Sabeen Construction Year 2018 The initiative is to design a contemporary style interior space. The idealistic approach is to keep the consistency of linearity of elements among spaces in order to match with the theme of existing structure. Each space has been dealt seperately keeping the mood subtle and complimenting. (Auto cad, SketchUp, V-ray max, Photoshop, Freehand sketch)

Planing & Interior Design

Client: Dr. Shahid Under Construction

The recently designed house in Islamabad revolves around the idea of innovation and openness. The volumetric design of the house not only stands out among the rest of the city’s residential buildings but also ensures that the house is well-lit. A central void slices through the house, all the way down to the basement, bringing light into various spaces. The main volume that stands out in the house is a shipping container. This decision was made to highlight the practicality and visual aesthetics of using this material, which is otherwise not seen in the city. (Auto cad, SketchUp, Lumion, Photoshop,) 09

The basement is completely open, with a mini bar on one side and a casual sitting area on the other. It opens into patios both at the front and the back, ensuring that the space doesn’t seem congested.

Fitness Club

Planning & Interior Design

Client: Basit Khan Construction Year 2014 This project was to design a gym inside an existing 3 storey building. The project presented a challenge as a buildings anatomy was uneven and asymmetrical, In order to remedy that, mock colums and beams were designed to even out spaces. (Auto cad, 3dS Max, V-ray max, Photoshop)

Mirrors and stainless steel were installed on the ceiling to reflect the light causing interior to look not only bigger but brighter aswell, the color scheme was matched with the equipment brought in for gym

Colgate Office Interior Design

Client: Colgate & Palmolive Construction year 2016 The main challenge in this building was a small footprint of space which was tackled by designating specific zones for each space so that the flow was not hindered. The second more obvious problem was low ceiling height, moreover service pipes and ducts were running underneath it therefore, the ceiling was designed in a way that it hides the services from view, enhancing it to be a visually stimulating element aswell. (Auto cad, SketchUp, Lumion, Photoshop)

Design & Construction

Client: Mr Dawood construction year 2015 The first skylight was designed for a restaurant to bring in natural light to the basement and was designed inclined with the planters at the edge so the rain water sweeps through the glass towards planters. Second skylight was designed for a traditional style farm house and the concept was taken from a rib cage to make it structurally stable and strong. (Auto cad, SketchUp, Lumion, Photoshop)

01

Identifying with the Unknown Adaptive Reuse-Thesis Project

The thesis revolves around bringing out the true essence of an inclusive space designed for a specific community. With the use of contemporary material in a traditional building, an Inclusive space allows everyone to feel safe, supported, included, and encouraged to be themselves; where each person is recognized as a diverse individual connected to a community; (Auto cad, SketchUp, V-ray Max, Photoshop)

25

The initial design concept revolves around the main central courtyard of the building which tend to open the spaces(rooms) towards the center to make it more transparent and give feel of freedom and selfness to the users. The idea behind the intervention is to juxtapose with the existing structure in contrast with contemporary methods and materials is to translate the characteristics of the user into architecture.

02

Art Complex Thesis Project

Art complex brings together various genres of art and people under one roof. The space would provide a unified platform for artists to showcase their talent. In order to create a state of the art building, I designed a space that would be able to transform itself based on requirement. In order to achieve a facade that would expand & contract to control light & wind, technology is used. After studying joinery of different mechanical parts, a steel structure was designed that would not only be unique in its construction but would also promote the idea that art can never be static, through its own form. (Auto cad, 3dS Max, V-ray Max, Photoshop, Freehand sketch)

03

Student Housing Adaptive Reuse

This project proposes a temporary space for the convenience of thesis year students where they can live, work and interact with their fellow students. In order to manage the tight schedule of the students this space is designed for the multipurpose, consisting of a space for room, kitchen, bath, work area, common room, material and printing spot all under one roof. Inspiration have been taken from existing truss structure at the site. The design evolves around a weaving pattern to form spaces. This pattern creates interesting openings to bring through light and makes space more livelier. (Auto cad, SketchUp, V-ray Max, Photoshop, Physical model)

Concept

The design is generated from the concept of the existing structure which appears like a weaving pattern. Through the colums and trusses, lines are extended which overlap and then the center point of each line divides the space according to the program.

Light Design Industrial Design

Why do partition walls always have to be in tangible form? In order to change a cliche misconception, Partition in the form of thin light, emitted through a lamp source is created. This light forms boundaries creating individual spaces within a larger space. (SketchUp, V-ray Max, Photoshop, Freehand sketch, Physical model)

Constructional Sketches

Prototype The project was to design a lamp and create a prototype, the approach was very minimalistic and modern. The materials being used during the making process were metal pipe, copper heads, led lights and mylar sheet used as a diffuser, and was mounted to the wall through electric box.

Exhibition Design Adaptive Reuse

Newport Congregational Church was built in 1857. The church was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2012. The design proposal is for a temporary exhibit at the Newport Congregational Church in Newport, RI. Design concept based on the geometry of projections of the windows, creating a path: central area - group path +interactive spaces | side areas - individual path + semi-transparent graphic screens. These two spaces are designed to educate and let visitors interact and get lost in the history of the church and the artist - John La Farge, who has redecorated the church in 1881, creating the murals, decoration and his well-known opalescent glass windows. (Auto cad, SketchUp, V-ray Max, Photoshop, Freehand sketch, Physical model)

06 Blue City Adaptive Reuse

The project revolved around the revitalization of a 4km long streched land next to Nala lai, the largest body of water running through the cities of rawalpindi and islamabad. For the building form, I took help from the existing geometry of the area. On both sides of the Nala were various streets, forming a dense network of spaces that interconnected with one another. Using shipping containers was an idea that stemmed from modularity as well as sustainability. At any point in time, more containers could be added to grid in order to expand the space. The ultimate goal of my design was to bring the people of both sides together while creating fiscal opportunities for them, which could possibly lead to the general public of the cities to come here as well. (Auto cad, SketchUp, Lumion, Photoshop, Freehand sketch)
