MORE THAN TAGUS The concept of public space performed a key role in the design of the Nautical Center of Lisbon, located at Doca Conde Rocha de Ă“bidos, hence the clear opening of the project to the surroundings. The space is defined by a slab which covers the entire complex, being provided with several openings which relate both to the outside space and with the interiors generally circular shaped, which enclose an extensive program. This is clear on the central square, consisting of a garden and an opening that frames the sky, and the unique relationship with the southern shore. The horizontality of the prestressed concrete slab is, to some extent, counteracted by the prevailing verticality of the pillars which replicate and define the internal spaces. So, in terms of materiality, we have a white concrete slab resting on a weathering steel structure which in conjunction with perforated weathering steel plates and glass panels define the borders of the program. The exterior pavement results as an extension of what already happens in other rehabilitated areas such as the case of Ribeira das Naus. The strong permeability and transparency of this project is reflected by the relationship between the nautical center, the city and the Tagus River.

GLOBAL SCHINDLER AWARD - SHENZHEN (2015) 5 BUILDING BROTHERS | 2 CITY SISTERS GLOBAL SCHINDLER AWARD
ANA CORREIA 73266| ANA SERRA 72696 | GASPAR CRESPI 72858 | JIANJIAN SONG 80576 | YANGTIAN LUO 73039
MAIN PROBLEMS degradation
SUNGANG-QUINSHUIHE SHENZHEN, CHINA
no conditions for pedestrians
The intervention was designed with the objective to find concrete answers to the main problems of today's cities. Shenzhen, is set in a context even more problematic, together with its extremely rapid urban growth with origins in the great flow of persons, property and investments. In this perspective the intervention was based on themes such as mobility and transportation, extending the project to a search for solutions capable of strengthening the urban experience and find ways for the future based on a sustainable concept.
unimproved land in the middle of the city pollution
Green belt was extended, and gr e e n a re a s become important both on the streets a n d i n t he bl o c k s t h e m s e l v e s .
Bring water into the city
Good acessibilities are mantained and improved.
There are two new c en te r s, th at ar e sorrounded by some some mixed and residential areas.
Some ar eas ar e preserved and reclassified, the others are built from scratch.
MAIN PROBLEMS reduce pollution + promote pedestrian movement and bike path + mixed funtions =
higher urban living
FIVE BROTHERS Fitting into a view of allowing the release of green space and public space by opting for the building height , the 5BROS will also establish itself as an urban reference for the city . Thus, besides clearly participating in the organization of Shenzhen, this Northern centre will also establish a strong relationship with the mountains giving them an identity that dialogues with the Chinese culture. This new city centre is associated with a proposal of a multidisciplinary vision of creating functionally and qualitatively reference spaces. Construction will also converge on an idea of respect for local culture and sustainability , using local materials and a concrete central structure where is developed a conventional metric that is strategically broken.
BLOCK CONCEPT The implementation of the concept of block in the project forms part of a search for a higher urban living that can adapt to the conditions in question. This idea is supported by the great importance that commerce assume in the city and the role of rehabilitation in assuming new and different functions as well as the enhancement of the quality and increase of the spatial and functional levels. The location of green spaces and public facilities turns out to be also a driving of the urban life and the own social and environmental conditions of the city.
..\..\..\..\Desktop\AutoSave_AutoSave_QuarteirĂŁo.jpg2.jpg
Two Green Blocks are connected with a street between them. Within these blocks are not allowed cars and green areas are privileged
