CHILDISH QUIRKINESS AND GREAT APPEAL RARELY MIX. THAT IS WHY WHEN WE HAD ZYRA MANLUNAS FOR A SHOOT, WE DID FIND A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH. ON OUR MODERN TAKE ON MARIE ANTOINETTE FOR OUR PHOTO SHOOT, WE DIDN’T REALLY HAVE A HARD TIME, DESPITE STARTING LATE, LACK OF PROPS, AND LAST MINUTE CHANGE OF LOCATION - ALL BECAUSE ZYRA DIDN’t MIND..

BREAD WINNER Cagayan de Oro’s popular breadshop Missy Bon Bon launches their PASALUBONG BOX
Pasalubong is a very old Filipino tradition of bringing goodies to your loved ones whenever you have gone to a far flung place. Pastries, such as donuts and delicacies are among the most common goodies that are being sold as pasalubongs. Missy Bon Bon, the bread shop which is very known for its tasty and creamy gelatos, has launched their own Missy Bon Bon Pasalubong box. Aside from their gelatos, they are also known for their fresh, nutritious, and delicious bread and pastries such as the Cheesy Sponge and the Sweet Potato bread. Because of its unique taste, nobody can blame locals and visitors to buy some of their best-sellers and bring it to other places as pasalubongs to their friends and loved ones. To make it more convenient, Missy Bon Bon created the Pasalubong Box line. There are four variants to choose from: their best-selling Cheesy Sponge cake, the Sweet Potato Bread, the Ensaimada, and their newest addition to their creations, the Pastel, a soft chewy bun with special custard filling which is a Northern Mindanao staple delicacy. What separates the Missy Bon Bon Pastel apart from the other brands is that it is baked fresh and it is not made by any machines, according to Henrik Yu, one of the owners of the bread shop. So before you leave the city, be sure to visit one of their stores and buy some Pasalubong Box which comes in 6’s and 12’s. Missy Bon Bon is located in Rosario Drive, Lim Ket Kai Center. You can also locate their stalls in Gaisano Mall and Robinson’s. For more info check their website http://www.missybonbon.com or their facebook page www.facebook. com/MissyBonBonBreadshop.
HAPPY HOUR!
If you are up for a great night of pizza and booze, check out Pizza De Oro. words by Edu Segundo Ragpala I once got really tired of pizza. I mean, seriously, if I am going to ask you 20
different names of pizza parlors all over the city, you could probably answer 25. And although there are some few not-so-known names that can surpass the giants like Pizza Hut and Shakey’s when it comes to taste, most of them are bland (especially those ones with thin, economically spread out crust) and just seem so right not. And what really is depressing is the fact that some pizza parlors are wholesome (by wholesome I mean they don’t serve beer). Good thing there is Pizza De Oro. Now I have heard of this name three years ago for the Pizza de Oro team quietly started as order only basis - so quiet that it somehow has this cult feeling to it. Anyways, this particular pizza place is known for their white sauce pizza and their crispy slightly burnt crust which is the total opposit of the thin crust (which I don’t really much dig since the toppings most of the time flop down the crust when you try to lift it). I also have heard a year ago that they already have their place along Dolores Street (near FICCO) but I only had visited just recently. Now what is really cool about Pizza De Oro the place is that I could really feel the pizza place I was longing for: hole-in-the-wall kind of feel to the place, dim lighting, some acoustic band playing during some days of the week, and beer! Oh yes, they serve beer (what would pizza be without beer?)! Apart from their popular favorites, I also fell in love instantly to their smoked turkey. Served in siizzling hot plate, the smoked turkey is already sliced in bite size with some hot sauce and mayonnaise topped on it. I would say Pizza de Oro is the place if you want some affordable yet unique tasting pizza to match with your beer. And oh, do not forget to invite your friends. Pizza De Oro is located the 2nd level of Sabihon Building, Dolores cor Corrales Streets, Cagayan de Oro City.
