MAYOR’S MESSAGE

As we step into another exciting chapter for Riverton city, I am filled with optimism and gratitude for all that we have achieved together and all that lies ahead.

The start of a new year is a time to reflect on our shared progress and set our sights on the future. In the past year, we’ve seen incredible growth, strengthened connections, and worked tirelessly to make our city an even better place to call home. From new developments to cherished traditions, every step forward has been possible because of the dedication and spirit of our community.

RESERVE A CITY FACILITY

Community Center

This stunning event space, including the outdoor plaza, accommodates up to 125 people or 80 with round tables. It includes tables and chairs, a full warming kitchen (microwave, fridge, freezer, sink), and a complete audio system with a microphone. Resident fee, $600, Non-resident fee is $1,200.

The newly renovated Sandra N. Lloyd Community Center offers six facilities, including three traditional classrooms, a full auditorium, and a brand-new outdoor plaza and pavilion. Rates depend on the specific room selected. Reservations must be made in person.

This versatile event space holds up to 100 people with tables and chairs. It features a full warming kitchen (microwave, fridge, freezer, sink, and serving counter), tables & chairs, and a complete audio system with a microphone. Resident fee $300, non-resident fee $600.

City Park Pavilions

Riverton City offers 13 reservable pavilions. The City Park Large Pavilion accommodates up to 400 people, costing $75 for residents and $125 for non-residents. Other pavilions typically hold around 50 people, with rates set at $35 for residents and $60 for non-residents.

LIVE CHRISTMAS TREE COMPOSTING

Properly dispose of live Christmas trees at one of three drop-off locations: Centennial Park, Monarch Meadows Park, Riverton Rodeo Arena. Live, undecorated trees only. Open through end of January.

SPRING CLEAN UP DAYS

• SATURDAY, APRIL 5 & 12, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Community dumpsters for trash, cardboard and tree branches will be available on two Saturdays in April at both Riverton City Park and Western Springs Park. For Riverton resident use only. • ALL YEAR LONG

Riverton residents can pick up a free $10 voucher to the Trans-Jordan Landfill at the Utility Billing Office at Riverton City Hall to use when doing home or yard cleanup. Limit of two passes per year per household. The Trans-Jordan Landfill is located at 10473 S Bacchus Highway in South Jordan.

OLD DOME MEETING HALL

Completed in 2015, the Old Dome Meeting Hall reflects Riverton’s heritage, inspired by the historic Old Dome Church, a nearly six-story structure built in the early 1900s just north of City Hall on Redwood Road. The Old Dome Meeting Hall now hosts cultural displays, civic events, and is available for public rentals. Its iconic dome is featured in the city’s logo.

Riverton City Hall is home to the central offices and administration for the Riverton City government. The Riverton City Council conducts its regular meetings in the building, which has been in use by the city since its dedication on April 6, 2005. The building was originally a school and has served the Riverton community for over 100 years.

The Danny R. Crump Fishing Pond adjoins the Old Farm Park and is owned and maintained by Riverton City in Riverton. The stocked fishing pond is named for Danny Crump, a former water inspector for Riverton City who lost his life in a tragic accident. Amenities and features include a fish cleaning station, picnic tables and a walking path.

The flagship and largest park in Riverton has something for everyone. The Riverton City Park boasts amenities and features that make it the most popular recreation and leisure destination in the city and is home to Riverton’s iconic Old Dome Meeting Hall. The park was re-opened in 2015 following a large renovation and is 31 acres in size.

GREEN WELL

Riverton City has a new reverse osmosis plant at the Green Well, an artisan well on the city’s east side. The plant produces water that meets or exceeds current standards. This purified water will increase Riverton’s culinary supply, providing a sustainable source and helping maintain low water rates for residents.

JORDAN RIVER PARKWAY

The Jordan River Parkway is a north-south system of trails that parallels the Jordan River, connecting 45 miles through Salt Lake County. The trail further connects to neighboring counties, allowing for travel to Utah Lake and the Great Salt Lake. Development and maintenance of the trails are divided among Salt Lake County and numerous local municipalities.

HAMILTON BASEBALL FIELDS & PARK

The CR Hamilton Sports Complex is a beautiful 30-acre public facility for sports and various events, owned and maintained by Riverton City, located on the south side of Riverton. The complex includes six baseball/softball fields or four football fields. It also features a concession stand, picnic tables, a walking path, and 500 parking stalls. The facility was completed in 2009.

Secondary Water System Shut Off

The canal companies that service Riverton City plan to shut off the secondary water system for the season by mid-October, pending supply of water.

Over 2,700 individuals have made their final resting place Riverton City Cemetery. Each year residents sponsor wreaths to honor the 378 known veterans interred there. The cemetery also serves as the site for the city’s annual Memorial Day observance. In 2019, a striking black granite veterans memorial was erected to commemorate all the veterans buried here.

Come see dozens of quilts made by local quilters on display at the Riverton Quilt Exhibition at the Old Dome Meeting Hall. Free and open to all.

HISTORIC TITHING HILL & GRAINERY

In 1886, a “Tithing Yard” was established, where devoted members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints brought their tithes in the form of produce, livestock, poultry, grains, and other farm goods. This collection site served the community until its operation ceased in 1913.
