O U T E R S PHERE

EXPLORING GODLY WISDOM THROUGH THE BOOK OF PROVERBS In the Bible we learn about a guy named Solomon. Solomon was crowned as king of Israel and had some pretty big shoes to fill. His father, David, had been an incredible king and the people loved him. How would Solomon measure up as king? Would he be as good or would he mess it all up? Solomon knew he couldn’t do it on his own. One night, God came to Solomon in a dream and said, “What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!” (1 Kings 3:5, NLT). Can you imagine if that happened to you?! What would you ask for? Solomon knew exactly what he wanted – wisdom. “Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong” (1 Kings 3:9). Solomon knew something very important: wisdom, true wisdom, comes only from God. God blessed Solomon’s request and he became the wisest man in the entire land. We can read about the great wisdom that God gave Solomon in the Bible. The Book of Proverbs was written by Solomon and is packed with wisdom from God! Wisdom is so much more than being smart or getting good grades. It is making right choices and living a life that honors God. “Outer Sphere: Exploring Godly Wisdom through the Book of Proverbs” is a deep dive into what true wisdom from God is all about. Get ready to learn more about the “O” in PILOT as we discover that “God’s ways are higher than my ways.”

GO VERSE THIS SCRIPTURE IS OUR THEME VERSE AS WE JOURNEY THROUGH THE OUTER SPHERE! “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” Proverbs 3:5-6

WEEK TWO:

BLESSED OR CURSED? GO ANSWER

Wisdom brings blessings

PROVERB OF THE WEEK: Proverbs 3:13 Sometimes, when we talk about God blessing us, it can be easy to only think of blessings like money, houses, cars, and clothes. God’s blessings do not always equal material things. Yes, God can bless and provide things like clothes and food for us. And he does that often. If you have a house to live in, you should be thankful for that blessing! But God does not only bless us with material things. He blesses us with things that are worth far more than that. As a family, look up the verses below to read about other ways that God blesses His children… • Psalm 5:12

• Psalm 29:11

• Matthew 7:9-11

Why is it important to obey our parents and those in authority?

SWORD DRILLS! Challenge your family to a round of SWORD DRILLS! To start, everyone grabs their Bible and places it on their head. Next, someone shouts out a scripture reference (like Genesis 1:1 or Jeremiah 29:11 or Proverbs 3:13) and everyone grabs their Bible off their head and races to look up the scripture as fast as they can. First one to find it reads the scripture out loud to the group.
