EDITORIAL
Once again, we are grateful to all our contributors for your enthusiasm and patience. Thank you for sending in all your articles. We refined content from more than a thousand entries. Your love and support is of utmost importance to us. We are glad to introduce the April issue of Rivista di Moda Magazine, the personal style issue. YSL once famously said, “Fashion fades but Style is eternal.” This very statement is exemplified through this April issue. A powerful personality with a smart sense of aesthetics is the most important accessory in one’s wardrobe. We are what we wear, we wear what we are! It’s a silent yet tangible expression of our ideas, our personas and our perceptions. This issue focuses on personal style and its relevance in fashion. On celeb style, we have featured Emma Watson. She knows how to carry herself gorgeously - elegant and chic, powerful and feminine. Milica Stojsic of HiPop, Laura of Laura wears and Onyinye Ibeagi of Modavracha also give us their tit-bits on personal style and fashion. Watch out for some nice bites of wisdom from our fashion bloggers! Fashion and style are so entwined that they inspire each other constantly. Art has been one of the most inspiring cornerstones of society, and likewise fashion. Be it Surrealism for Elsa Schiaparelli or Piet Mondrian for YSL, art inspires and nourishes fashion. Also, keep an eye out for Talent Spotlight. Josie Mills of Open Minded Fashion meets talented designer duo, Posemanikin. And as they say “A thing of beauty is a joy forever”, Tey Liting of Circle and Hemisphere shares her personal favorite make up routine in Glamororous Shine Make up. Finally, we have a style shoot by Trendiing in Secrets of Cook. RDM Team

Art Noveau gained importance in the late 1800s. Organic forms, swirls and grandeur were key focal points in this art movement. Fauvism is one of the avant-garde movements of the 20th century. Fauvism was about bright colors and deformity in forms. An influence of Fauvism and Cubismin fashion was especially noticeable in the 1920s. Russian Constructivism enters the textiles. Italian futuristic clothes and an abstract design of Chanel’s №5 bottle appeared. In 1920s the Art Deco movement with its beautiful geometry arrived. In fashion, different ornaments and patterns, masculine forms and short haircuts for women appeared.
Cubism
One designer who is synonymous with Surrealism is Elsa Schiaparelli. She is well known for introducing surrealism in fashion and her collaborations with Salvador Dali and Jean Cocteau. The 1960’s stood testimony to Op-Art and Pop Art. Op-art’s focuses on optical illusions and effects. Pop art became instantly popular in fashion due to bright colors juxtaposed with contrasting elements. To this day, Art influences fashion in multiple ways, through design, graphics, prints, colours and cuts. 26 | April 2013 | Rivista di Moda

Josie Mills of Open Minded Fashion meets talented designer duo, Posemanikin of www. posemanikin.com
Allie is an artist in every sense of the word. She brings artistry to everything she does, be it photography, experimental music, graphic design, cooking, or jewelry-making. Her website, an artistic work in itself, is PoseManikin (www. posemanikin.com)
It’s Thursday night at the home of Allie OliverBurns and her husband Josh Burns. Tonight they’re staying in for date night, making homemade pizza. But Allie and Josh—both artists with design degrees—are no ordinary couple, and nothing about the pizza is ordinary either—just look at it! I first started following Allie about a year ago. I was drawn to her leather necklaces that conveyed for me a spirit both exotic and natural. I finally ordered one a few months ago, and everything from the personalized packaging to the unique design of the necklace made it special for me. Now Allie has a new line of jewelry out—the Mod Candy Collection. The geometric shapes conjure up the beehive hairstyles of the 50s. The playful, colorful baubles are perfect for spring. The cookbook features such fabulous recipes as black tea chocolate almond cranberry scones! Because it honors her mom’s memory, Allie is giving away the downloadable cookbook for free from this link.

Q&A with Milica Stojsic of HiPop
1. What sets you apart from the rest? I am not trying too hard to be different from the rest as that would imply a dose of exhibitionism, which is really not a reason behind my fashion experiments. So, it is not so much about shock and impressing others at every price, but staying true to yourself and following your guts. 2. What does fashion mean to you? A playground where everything is possible. It allows me to explore different faucets to my personality as I can be and feel like someone else for a little while. 3. What is your style statement? On the edge. 4. How important is individuality to you and how it reflects your style? I think I’ve already given a partial answer to this question in no.1…Suzy Menkes has really made a point on theme of collective vs. individual in her recent text The Circus of Fashion. During the 90s Comme des Garcons meant nothing more than couple of French words for me, as I was far too young to know better, but I can totally relate to Menkes’ point of view. She compares how it was all about sharing similar way of thinking that connected people to form a critical mass, in contrast to almost pathological desire to stand out, to have your 15 second (if not minutes) of fame, that is so visible today. 5. Your favorite fashion designers and why? Like I had mentioned before the same way – Martin Margiela. I feel his open mind and conceptual approach on a really intimate level, really close to me. 6. Secret behind your unique DIY posts? Not really much of a secret – I find inspiration in materials all around me, even if they are not primarily meant to be used in fashion. I’ll just say that guys in a local hardware store like me a lot.
42 | April 2013 | Rivista di Moda
7. Prints or Solid colors? Charcoals or nude? Why? Depends on current obsessions, I don’t like excluding things just like that. These days, for instance, I would go for graphic prints. When it comes to charcoals, black is always the new black. Along with nude it makes such a good base for fashion experiments, but this season I will opt for white when I need to go back to basics. 8. Your wardrobe essentials? There is a good reason why those are called classics - white shirt and black pants. Going simple, yet gender bender is always edgy enough. 9. Favorite shopping destination? Local flea market with a very cool name – Nylon! 10. Who is behind those gorgeous photographs in your blog? My friends, Ivana, Bojan and Dejan, thanks to whom I have discovered the beauty of analog photography.

I usually skipped my foundation because I prefer bb cream that contain SPF, which I think it is more natural and have the glowing effect. But if you want a matte and perfect coverage finish, then you should use some good coverage foundation, I don’t know much about foundation since i only try the Lancome Teint Miracle before, for me i think it is kinda dry, so i like to mix it up with some water base bb cream. To be honest, i never really finish a whole bottle of foundation or bb cream before, and once you keep it too long, the foundation started to dry out , thats what i hate about it. sometimes bb cream do have the same problem. so i really prefer water base bb cream or foundation. EYES. My biggest fear is drawing the eyeliner, I always wanted to achieve the perfect cat eyes winged but yet i never really success. I’m using the Lancome brown and gold palette, i’m loving this palette so much that I’m actually murdering them all the time . not just because the colours is so stunning, it is also very useful, you can use it for contour, highlight, for the eyebrow , eyeliner. so I love to darken my eye crease with the darker brown eye shadow to give more dimension and illusion of bigger and brighter eyes. I also apply this shade under lower lashes to balance up the whole look.Lastly, apply lots and lots of mascara, if you have full lashes , you are so lucky!
