The world of Steampunk is about invention, history, fantasy, time-travel, imagination, creativity, ingenuity, engineering, machines, and most of all, dressing the part and having fun.

“Thank you for joining us on a weekend of costumes, gadgets and steampunk imagination.” A curious Fraser Coast had its First taste of steampunk in 2019 with hundreds plunging into the Jules Verne spirit of envisaging the future as the Victorians imagined it. Since then, the Fraser Coast has contiued to celebrate its industrial heritage, Victoriana streetscapes and inherent fondness for costumes. We hope families can expand their steampunk experience by joining one of the beginners Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.) workshops if they wish, or simply enjoy the heritage of Hervey Bay and Maryborough streetscapes at their leisure.
Alternatively, perhaps visiting local tourist attractions and restaurants? Like the Cauldron Brewery, Saturday 25 June for STEAMfesta From 5.00 to 11:00pm. Welcome! DAY 1 at the Hervey Bay Historical Village is full of fantastic photo opportunities throughout the venue. Including more than 40 lovingly restored show areas, featuring a working Blacksmiths, Railway Station and Old School House. Food & stallholders are situated around the village green, while entertainment fills the venue throughout the day. Photo participation is part of this event. MARYBOROUGH – Day 2: Sunday 26 June 2022 TIME: 10am - 3pm Brolga Theatre – Adjacent to Queens Park and ‘Sunday in the Park’
Welcome to Day 2 Today, the Brolga Theatre is Steampunk central. From here you can explore Steampunk stalls, take part in a Steampunk Costume Competion, join one of many S.T.E.M. workshops or watch the progress of Antweight Combat Robots for the Battle at the Brolga. From here you can also catch the Mary Ann steam train to Queens Park, for the Excelsior Band and MELSA model Engine rides, while entertainment fills the venues throughout the day.
Photo participation is part of this event but not 1 Main Entrance compulsory. At STEAMfesta Inc. our aim is to inspire ‘makers’ of all ages to dust off their tools, toys, welders, and sewing machines and exercise their brains, and chuckle muscles for a festival event like no other. We welcome cteativity, good manners, outrageous story-telling, humorous boasting and eccentric steampunk-themed apparel. On the first Thursday of each month the STEAMfesta Workshop & Combat Robot Builders team meets at the Neighbourhood Hive in Hervey Bay to encourages imagination and creativity for all ages using S.T.E.A.M. as a theme (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Maths).
