BICYCLE /’bisǝk(ə)l/
(noun)
a vehicle composed of two wheels held in a frame one behind the other, propelled by pedals and steered with handlebars attached to the front wheel.
FIXIE /’fikse/
(noun)

IRONWORKERS MEMORIAL BRIDGE
The bridge was renamed the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Crossing in 1994 to honour the 19 workers who died in the collapse, along with four others who also died during the construction process.
A fixed gear can be so much more than just a commuter. Are you going to race it? Play bike polo (no, seriously)? Be a messenger? Do tricks? Stunt on Fixed Gear Gallery? All of the above? The way you answer this question will change your options dramatically. There’s no point in getting a handmade frame if its destiny is to be getting locked to parking meters and whacked with mallets.
LIONS GATE BRIDGE
YVRFIXED is a Vancouver based community for anyone who enjoys riding fixed gear bikes. We welcome everyone who is inspired by the culture.
THIRD BEACH
Historically the waterfront at the south end of Lonsdale Avenue was known as the Lonsdale Quay, which includes a public pier, seawall, docks, farmers market and event space, art galleries, parks, restaurants, local shops, and so much more. LONSDALE QUAY
SPIRIT TRAIL
This soulful, flowing style of riding has been compared to surfing. Sometimes it’s a drag not to be able to coast, change gears, and stop pedaling to bunny-hopa curb. But that’s what the other bikes in my quiver are for. Practical or impractical, hip or outdated, riding a fixed-gear is just fun.

WEST VANCOUVER MCDONALDS DRIVE THRU
Third Beach is a naturally sandy beach surrounded by trees that shield dippers and tanners from urban noise. This is a great beach for quiet bathing, picnics, and watching sunsets.
Stanley Park is a 405-hectare park that borders downtown Vancouver. The park has a vast history and is one of the first areas visitors come to explore in the city. In 1886, the land was named Vancouver’s first park after Lord Stanley, the same person named after the National Hockey Leagues NHL Stanley cup.
NORTHBOUND BURRARD STREET BRIDGE
The Burrard Bridge is more than a span between two points of land, it is a “symbol of Vancouver’s progress and a mark of faith in the city’s future”. These words printed in the Vancouver Sun upon the bridge’s opening in 1932, heralded the “symphony of steel and concrete” which was the fourth bridge to cross False Creek.
NORTH VANCOUVER
The Village of Deep Cove is a place in North Vancouver, but it’s also the name of a beer company. Deep Cove Brewers & Distillers is one of the Lower Mainland’s top craft beer breweries. It’s located at 2270 Dollarton Highway, so actually about 6.5 km from the village.
LIONS GATE BRIDGE Upon its completion, the Lions Gate bridge was the longest suspension bridge in the British Empire.
