UNDERGRADUATE DESIGN STUDIO CANTEEN FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE The first-year design studio aimed to comprehend the model and sketch base design development process. Through this process, an understanding of the relationship between different kinds of linear horizontal and vertical forms was instilled.

MODEL MAKING

Based on the thought that light has always been a fundamental element in the conception of architectural spaces, it is crucial to understand it for it is capable of playing with volumes, distorting the perception of space, and even dramatizing the shapes and textures of the materials, the first year introduced Lighting and its behavior in interior spaces.

SUMMER SCHOOL THE CRAFTY COLLABORATION The time problem revolved around re-imagining the Chaurasi temple which was demolished by an Earthquake. All the objects in the vicinity like rocks, pieces of paper, dry leaves were taken into consideration for developing the notion. After exhibiting the concept it was exchanged with another colleague who developed it further. In return, I had to develop his idea. This exercise aimed to teach us how to develop and bring out the best from a different conception in collaborative projects.

UNDERGRADUATE STUDIO DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACY Intending to introduce the utility services in the floor plan while maintaining the spatial quality which is often compromised for incorporating services effectively, the design brief was to propose a pharmacy building in the Donor’s Plaza that is a clustered vicinity of other integrated academic departments offered by the M.S. University.

UNDERGRADUATE STUDIO DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACY The major point of consideration while developing the design was to offer a well-facilitated laboratory with storage and wastewater disposal as per the requirements of the user group and key findings of the case study.

INTERNSHIP CORPORATE OFFICE Located on the 4th floor of commercial hub in an urban area, the elongated space had 2 parallel sides with structural elements and openings. The space was approached with a unique concept of doing away with repetitive office interiors by replacing them with various red textured clay tile forms and natural granite adding to the ambience of natural materials into the corporate office. Creating a central layout with peripheral continuity for storage and no central obstruction makes the space to be large, airy and brighter. Planning encourages integration and communication amongst the staff. Storage backdrop on the peripherycontinues all over with niche replicates, skillfully crafted voids in clay tile cladding texture and contrasting checkered pattern ceiling.

INTERNSHIP

CLAY TILE SCREEN CLADDING

clay roof tile was identified to clad the west facade. The tile is low cost and has longevity. The pattern is explored through various arrangements and craftsmanship that depicts the toran graphics at 45 degree angles.

The proportions of clay roof tile strips casts shadow on the surface based on sun’s movement in Indian context. The screening keeps the interior spaces cool and yet stands out of the local fabric.

GRADUATE DESIGN STUDIO AFFORDABLE HOUSING The studio’s objective was to create and comprehend row house typology. A central housing core with clear rectangles for all living spaces. Keeping thin walls clear of demising walls and fenestration flexible. There are two configurations, each with 11 units. A) 8 Single units and 3 stacked units. B) 4 flat units and 4 two story units above, 3 stacked units.

GRADUATE DESIGN STUDIO AFFORDABLE HOUSING The objective was to build dwellings that reflected the concept of equity; the overall layout is a clear rectangle punctured with pair of houses con-figured in a stacked manner to create shady pockets in between and oriented towards the main street and back street which acts as an outdoor patio to promote interaction among residents and mothers can keep an eye on their children playing outside. The linear skylight and grooved facade provide a contemporary twist to the design while respecting the neighborhood characteristics as well. As the dwellings share a common wall on the northern and southern ends, understanding the concept of housing core was critical.

STACKED UNITS

SINGLE UNITS

Areas with more human interaction, such as the living room and kitchen, were prioritised on the eastern and western facades to allow natural ventilation and sunlight to flood the entire house. A narrow skylight runs across the E-W axis on the roof to maximize natural light, along with South facing solar panels to improve efficiency. ROOF PLAN

HEALTH AND WELLNESS DESIGN STUDIO CANCER HOSPITAL Cancer is inevitable, but its treatment is not. With this in mind, and in order to facilitate the existing tammy walker cancer center, this design proposal would introduce human comfort centric design approaches derived from detailed background research and psychological studies of cancer affected populations and caregivers.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS DESIGN STUDIO CANCER HOSPITAL Similar to the precedent study of sculley welsh cancer centre - the metaphorical twist of the louvers into a screen is a prominent design feature that we adapted from that case study. The idea of horizontal wooden louvers that form the lobby solar shade was translated into a metal screen pattern positioned to become the exterior cladding of the main atrium on the southern facade. The patient treatment and waiting areas are designed to provide caregivers with direct visual and physical access to the healing gardens while also offering excellent visual oversight.

The socialization spaces in the (south-east direction) gardens serve as an active link for caregivers, who frequently see patients in multiple campus buildings throughout the day. The staff lounge and public interaction spaces are strategically placed on this end.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS INTERNSHIP EPPSTEIN UHEN ARCHITECTS, MILWAUKEE The main design project was an Advocate Arurora Health Ophthalomolgy clinic renovation project in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

My role included working on several stages, of SD, DD, and CD. From placing casework, annotating it, placing equipment, comprehending spatial planning, to developing a life safety plan, and many other details.
