STUDENT SUCCESSES
2nd XI GIRLS HOCKEY
An exciting finish to the first competition round of the season. The 2nd XI Girls hockey team went into the final game for 1st and 2nd place of the C grade unbeaten (with 5 wins and 1 draw). The game against WHHS was intense with the opposition scoring the first goal. The score was soon level with Grace Edhouse scoring the equaliser. Full time came to a draw, however, because the game was a final, there had to be a winner at the end. The teams went to a best of five shoot outs . Ashleigh Randell and Kyara Sassenburg each scored a goal in the shoot out. Goalie Caitly Rose Avery saved all of the shots that headed her way so the team won! The team was thrilled to come away with the win and a trophy for the competition. The Player of the game was Caitly Rose Avery for staying cool under the shoot-out pressure. The team should now be moving up a grade for the next round.
To recap a few games that we didn't share previously... 8 June: 2-1 Win vs WHHS. Goals by Kyara Sassenburg and Sara O'Driscoll. Player of the game Ashleigh Randell. 15 June: 1-1 Draw vs Te Koutu. Goal by Ashleigh Randell, Player of the game Madelin Maunder.
