WAIHI EAST SCHOOL
SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 25/2016
17th August 2016
Kia ora koutou, I trust everyone is staying warm this stunning, but very frosty, week. This cold snap is a perfect reminder that we have wind proof jackets, shoes and socks available from KidsCan, students can take these home and keep them. We also have a selection of uniform shirts and jumpers that can be borrowed if washing has not dried. Students can let the office know if they need to borrow something for the day. There is still a wide variety of donated clothing available (collected by our whanau Roopu), if you need or know of any other families that would appreciate extra clothing let us know at school. Last week was our celebration assembly. Thanks for all the hard work that room 4 and 2 put into running the assembly. I would like to add to the list of things we celebrated; We had an awesome Maths Week, thanks to Mrs Laing and all the helpers from room 4. Congratulations to all the students that won treats for your amazing math minds. The school has been fitness mad thanks to the home play challenge that Project Energize has organised. A huge thank you to our student leaders that have been helping out run fitness stations over the last couple of week. Our library has had a rearrange and revamp, making more useable space in our hall and giving us the feeling of a real library! Well done Thom and Josh M for all your hard work. We have rolled out the chromebooks into classes, some students are taking them home to continue using them as a learning tool after school. There is an amazing buzz of excitement in learning and work output as our students get more and more proficient using their new devices. There are so many amazing things happening throughout the school that enrich the learning journey, what a great place for our future leaders to learn and grow! A friendly reminder that full or ongoing partial payments for the chromebooks is expected this term. If payment plans have not been arranged with the office by next week, chromebooks will be put back into storage until we are satisfied that financial obligations are being met. Kind Regards Zac Taylor Principal Waihi East School

SEASONS FOR GROWTH PROGRAM Learning to live with change and loss. Change and loss are issues that affect all of us at some stage in our lives. At Waihi East School we recognise that when change occurs in families through death, separation, divorce and related circumstances, young people may benefit from learning how to manage these changes effectively. We are therefore offering a very successful education program called Seasons for Growth at Waihi East School, with groups running at school in school time as required. If your child has gone through significant change and you would like your child to attend Seasons for Growth please ask for an information letter/permission slip at the office. For further information contact the program co-ordinator on 022 083 5478 or email waihi@seasons.org.nz LOST AND FOUND FOUND– One gold hoop earring. One silver stud earring with coloured stone. Please see the office.
MEMOS FROM THE KIDS Don’t make rash promises. Remember how badly let down you feel when promises are broken. Don’t forget that I can’t explain myself as well as I would like. I may not know enough words to explain what I mean but I
