WAIHI EAST SCHOOL SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 06/2015
11 March 2015
Kia Ora one and all I am writing on behalf of our lovely Principal, who is not well today - one of the rather virulent tummy bugs is doing the rounds, with several children and staff being affected. Rest assured the hand sanitizer is receiving extra pumps today! Along with classrooms, doors and surfaces receiving a good amount of wiping over - ick! If your family comes down with a tummy bug (touch wood they don't!) they are welcome back to school 24 hours after the last bout of vomiting. In other news, we are busy testing across the school - and wow some very exciting results are being uncovered; these will be shared with whanau at student led conferences this term and next so be sure to check with in with your child on how they are going. A huge congratulations to our swimmers who have qualified to go forward in the next level of competition next Monday in Katikati. Go hard kids - we are very proud of you! Our lovely new bankers have been trained and are ready to go! Congratulations to Lily, Capri, Brooke, Madison and Isitolo for being chosen by Te Ra from the ANZ to be our bankers. Our school banking starts up again tomorrow and every Thursday from 8.30-9am. Come on in and have a chat to our team if you'd like to know more. It’s very exciting to have Matua Larn in on Thursday afternoons for Kapahaka. He is doing an outstanding job with our very large group! It’s wonderful to see such enthusiastic little faces coming out of the hall - one child announced to me "It’s the best thing ever!!" We are so pleased to be able to offer this opportunity. Our pig bucket is overflowing due to our new approach to filling it up with apple cores and crusts. Wow, if we keep this up we may get our pig on the spit for prizegiving yet! If you have any concerns, big or small; we want to hear about them and help in any way possible. We also love to hear about what is working well and going great for your child/whanau, so please come and have a chat. Warmest regards, Briar Frew
