WAIHI EAST SCHOOL SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 34/2015
4 November 2015
Kia ora, Well it has been an exciting few weeks at Waihi East School. Our trip to Otawhiwhi Marae was stunning and Calf Club Day on Monday was a huge success. As always there are behind the scenes people who make these events magic for our tamariki. A massive thank you to Briar and Phil for a very special Marae trip. Our day was so organized with amazing activities and fun. Our thanks to Team East Whanau for donating $500 towards the cost of the day. The staff member behind the scenes at Calf Club Day was the super organized Jude. Jude helped prepare a great event for the 17 calves and 3 lambs. Thanks also to the Scott whanau for your guidance and leadership at this event, and for training a group of children who participated with great enthusiasm and pride. Our thanks also to Bobbie and RD1 Waihi for the ribbons, Paul from Harcourt’s for the new lamb cup and other generous sponsors including FMG, LIC, Agrisea and Waihi Boys & Girls Agriculture Club. I am sure you are all getting excited about our Twilight Market. Anne Marie has this event organized with such enthusiasm, it is hard not to get excited! A great group of people are running stalls and events, however if you have not put your name forward, we can still find you a spot on the night! Look out for our Twilight Market flyers. We encourage all whanau to support this event. Congratulations to Kirsty Smith who will be our new entrant teacher in 2016 while Sarah Cannell is on maternity leave. Kirsty is a stunning teacher and an asset to our school, we are delighted that she will continue on our staff for 2016. The Board of Trustees will be funding an eighth teacher in 2016. This position is currently being advertised with existing staff members applying as well as other experienced teachers. We will share the outcome of this position in the next few weeks. The business of term 4 continues. We have group day this Friday, and under Phil’s exceptional guidance we have athletics at school next Monday 9th November, Cluster Athletics for years 5 & 6 next Wednesday 11th at the College and a sausage sizzle/mufti day next Friday for Marae expenses. We hope your whanau enjoys these experiences. Nga mihi nui, Emily Hargreaves (ehargreaves@east.school.nz)
