In This Edition Lt. G’s Corner New Year, New You? Spring Rally DCON Ending the Water Crisis with Thirst Project
Monte Vista Meeting December 18th
Lt. G’s Corner Happy holidays! I hope you’ve all had a great December and holiday season, and have thoroughly enjoyed your winter breaks. I for one am incredibly grateful for finals to be over, for at least another couple months. This month I’ve been particularly busy, with Key Club and my personal life. I visited a Monte Vista Key Club meeting (kudos guys, you guys have crazy organized meetings!) and have been preparing spring rally. In addition, I turned 16 and got braces! Remember, let me know if you have any questions, email me at rockymountainltg5@gmail.com
New Year, New You? The saying is everywhere, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. Walk out on the street and you’re guaranteed to hear it as well. With the New Year in full swing, there’s always the question of resolutions and making 2017 your year. But really, should the year changing be your only motivation for improving yourself? I say no, and here’s why. We have the entire year to cultivate ourselves, to serve our schools, home, and community. We have the entire year to be compassionate and better ourselves. Why make the change for a changing date? I encourage you all to go into the year knowing that you don’t have to be perfect since it’s a new year, but to make bettering yourself a priority throughout the year. Make 2017 your year! I’m not biased or anything buuuuut 2017 is going to be a great Key Club year, and you guys have the power to help that happen!
Spring Rally
DCON
The exact details of the rally are still in the works, and your presidents will let you know soon about them. However, I can’t stress enough how important the rally is! We will be electing next year’s LT.G. If you are interested in the position, let me know and I can give you more details about what it entails.
Our annual district convention will be held the first weekend of April. Why should you go? It’s a great opportunity to see why Key Club is such a huge organization, meet amazing fellow clubbers, and vote for next year’s district leadership! Members take part in forums and in general see what Key Club is really all about.
Thirst ProjectHow can your club help end the global water crisis? Help fundraise for the Thirst Project! They’re doing amazing work in Africa helping villages build sustainable water sources. A little effort by our division can help people have clean water access the rest of their lives! So what’s an effective way for your club to fundraise? One great idea is using envelopes. At your next meeting, get 25 envelopes and write a number on each (1, 2, 3, 4, etc). The number on the envelope is how the dollar amount each member is responsible for fundraising. Choose an envelope and turn it in when your officers designate! If each club in our division did this successfully, we could raise so much for such a noteworthy cause.
