What I’ve Been Up To Hello my lovely Division 16! I hope you’ve all had an amazing month full of love and service! This month I was able to attend my final District Board meeting (sobs) at the Sheraton Denver West Hotel, which is where we will be having District Convention next month! At the meeting, we did a lot of work on convention, and I know it’s going to be amazing! I also sent out an Awards Special Newsletter earlier in the month, and I strongly encourage all of you to look it over so we can have some Division 16 representation at the awards ceremony at DCON! I can’t wait to see you all at convention!

In this Issue:  Spring Rally  Call to convention

 March of Dimes  Thirst Project  Social Media

Spring Rally What is Spring Rally? Spring Rally is an event where the Key Clubbers in our division will get together to celebrate all things Key Club! We will have food, fun icebreakers, and exciting presentations. We will also be electing our new Lieutenant Governor, so if you want to have a say in who will represent you on the District Board, or if you wish to run, make sure to attend!

When and where is it? Spring Rally will be held on Friday, March 10th, at Fossil Ridge High School (5400 Ziegler Rd, Fort Collins, CO 80528) from 5:30pm to 8:45pm.

Why should I attend? Spring Rally is an awesome opportunity to meet Key Clubbers from all over our division! We will also be holding it with Division 13, so you can meet Key Clubbers from Wyoming too! In addition, it is important that your voice be heard in the elections for LTG, as this person will serve as the liaison between Division 16 and the Rocky Mountain District. Of course, if you wish the run for LTG, you must attend to participate in elections. If you have any questions about Spring Rally or the elections process, please contact me, I’d be happy to answer any

That’s right, its time to start thinking about the most exciting Key Club event of the year-DCON! This year the Rocky Mountain District’s Convention will be held March 31st-April 2nd, at the Sheraton Denver West

Hotel (360 Union Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80228). At DCON, you will get to hear from great speakers, attend helpful workshops, and even elect your incoming District Executive Board! I can not say enough about how great of an experience District Convention is, and I hope to see you all there! You can register online at https://rmdkeyleader.regfox.com/rockymountain-district-key-club-dcon. If you have any more questions please feel free to contact me!

President Franklin Roosevelt's personal struggle with polio led him to create the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis at a time when polio was on the rise. Better known as the March of Dimes, the foundation established a polio patient aid program and funded research for vaccines developed by Jonas Salk, MD and Albert Sabin, MD. These vaccines effectively ended epidemic polio in the United States. With its original mission accomplished, the foundation turned its focus to preventing birth defects and infant mortality. The March of Dimes has led the way to discover the genetic causes of birth defects, to promote newborn screening, and to educate medical professionals and the public about best practices for healthy pregnancy. They have supported research for surfactant therapy to treat respiratory distress and helped initiate the system of regional neonatal intensive care for premature and sick babies. Their recent Folic Acid Campaign achieved a dramatic reduction in the incidence of neural tube defects, birth defects of the brain and spine.

Thirst Project is the world’s leading student water activism organization, working to see the END of the global water crisis. 663 million people today do not have access to clean drinking water, so The Thirst Project decided to do something about it. Thirst Project exists to educate students about the water crisis and mobilize them to fundraise for global water projects. Since 2008, they’ve funded 1,846 clean water projects that have provided safe, clean water for life to more than 306,000 people in 13 countries, and they plan to double that in the next two years. With your help, they can accomplish this. At DCON we will be placing a special emphasis on the Thirst Project. We will be doing marriages and accepting pledges for this organization, so be prepared to help end the global water crisis!
